Very excited about this Busse blade, and haven't seen much talk about it.
Can some folks who attended Blade, tell the rest of us how it felt to hold, looks etc...? Maybe photo's :)

Thanks!

No photos but I like it a lot better than the original KZ. It is lighter, thinner, a bit shorter (if I remember right) and much better balanced. The handle has a nice palm swell and the tail turns up to give you additional control. All in all, I like it and ordered two in hand shaped canvas micarta. :D :D

Insightful thanks! I would love to see KZ2 in satin.

Yaaa I see that Busse Folder post, been holding off on a Hinderer in hopes of a B-Folder.

I like all the changes. Even if the original looked cool, things become way more awesome when you use them till they're spent.
Hopefully I can afford two Zilla's and put one of them through some proper use.

I love how this is one of the only places on the whole internet where the manufacturer of a product wants you to beat the crap out of their stuff.

I love it! I did not like the original, but this thing is sweet. I pre-ordered a sage with black hand shaped micarta.

I will get an in hand pic up in a few.

The original was not a great chopper. How is that possible?

It probably was a great chopper, but the handle design was fairly dangerous. If you were to miss a swing, it would require a lot of effort to stop the blade from sort of 'rolling' right out of your hand.

With the new handle, the 'tail' in the back, allows much better control over the blade.

I also think the new one just looks nicer.. ;)

The old design generated so much momentum that controlling it without a thong/lanyard was hard to do--of course, it also had tremendous chopping power because of that rotational momentum. P-Easy's point is a good reminder that anyone using the original model should employ a lanyard, preferably through a forward hole, to maintain control of the beast. Let's be careful out there.

It wasn't so much a matter of safety as effectiveness. I tried using mine to cut down some snall trees, but found it far less effective than my FBMLE. It just didn't cut well. Heck, even the AK got the job done quicker.

The convex grind on it was too fat and heavily curved as it approached the edge, and it prevented the blade from biting deeply into wood. Many people had the same experience. However, if you thinned down the edge a bit, like I did with mine, it became a very capable chopper, and if you completely reprofiled the convex grind, like Horn Dog did, it became an absolute beast. I think HD's killa zilla is better at splitting wood than an axe

The modification to a thinner grind and a faster, lighter feel in hand is pretty much exactly what most chopper-using test team members I've spoken to (including myself) wanted to see on the release version. The original will certainly keep a more "imposing" feel to it, but the killa zilla 2 is pretty much the exact knife I want for a practical user.

I originally became interested in Busse knives primarily for the chance to own an INFI kukri, and after I bought the TT killa zilla and saw how lousy of a chopper and brush slasher it was, I was quite disappointed and couldn't wait for my six months to be up so I could sell it. Now that an improved version is being offered, it could be my perfect INFI blade.

Obtuse edge coupled with the fattest convex grind in existence. On my TT I figured thinning the edge would work, it didn't. It would bite up until it hit the primary grind and stop dead. It was probably the worst Busse chopper I had used at the time. After some serious work thinning out the primary grind and reblending the edge, it outchopped every Busse chopper I had by far.

I loved the handle color (coyote) and the texture, and felt I even loved the shape however because of the handle I did manage to bury it in my shin on a miss.

The new KZ looks to be excellent, especially with the thinned grind. I'm very excited for it, however I will say i'm even more excited for the Basic 11.

I'm looking forward to Garth's regrind of my TTKZ. I will report, including before and after measurements of the profile, and chopping results.

sounds like my old FSH. took a lot of work on an extra course stone. however, like with the zilla, a significant reprofile made it an excellent chopper. i regret getting rid of it

i thought the old zilla looked a lot cooler, but i haven't handled either, and if people say the new one is lighter, faster and thinner, sounds good to me.

I didn't know before I got to blade if I would like it but before I left that day I preorded 2 :thumbup:and I've never even used a kukri before. It feels great in hand and it may take the place of the NMFBM in my quiver, but we'll wait and see. I'm going to hide from the wife when the bill shows up though:eek::eek::eek:
