Post the first knife you bought (or a link picture if you don't have a pic of one) and then the latest knife you bought.

I think this would have been my first purchased knife as a kid:

Nothing this nice- mine would have been a late 70's plastic handled job.

My latest knife(s) are:

My first knife was one of those little deals that are basically fingernail clippers with a small knife blade that folds out. I found it in an elementary school parking lot when I was 3. It's been downhill ever since.

My latest knife is the Koster bushcraft I got yesterday.

My first knife was given to me by my step-dad when I moved up from cub scouts to boy scouts. It was strange to me to get such a meaningful gift from him. Our relationship was never very good, in the fifteen years he was married to my mom we might have spoken one paragraph to each other. He was older and did not seem to have the patience or the desire to deal with me. He passed away my senior year of high school, right before graduation. In retrospect he was a good person, I just wish he could have stayed around longer. I wonder what our relationship might have turned into if he could see me at thirty. Anyway on with the pics.

And my most recent purchase would have to be a first generation Howling Rat, 360joules was kind enough to let this beauty move to a new home.

The first was a Buck 110, bought with birthday card money when I was 16 or 17. (do you really need a picture?) Still have it, although the tip is mysteriously 1/8" shorter than when it left the factory. :o The latest was a Browning Crowell/Barker comp cutter... very good knife.

Not to hijack.... but, James, is the website right, and that knife is 1/4" thick?

My first knife was this Case that I picked out when my Uncle came by and said, "Don't worry about what your parents will say, what do you want for your birthday?" I didn't technically buy it, but it was the first knife purchase for me. I still carry it around from time to time.

The last knives I bought were a Stomper semi-custom with Wenge scales

and a Laconico with Ziricote scales, both supplied from wood in my ever-growing exotic wood collection.

My first knife was something like this, only larger and more rediculous, with even more stuff on it. The blade came comepletely dull and wouldn't really take an edge...but I loved it. I think I was about 6 or 7.

Kind of funny, my most recent purchase is also a multitool. I went with the Swisstool X, I like the Vic scissors, and the plain edge. You guys who recommended the Swisstool have not lead me astray, it rocks.

Last "real knife" purchase was a BK2, and an Izula (which my wife promptly took and placed in her purse).

The very first knife I bought, was some swap meet trash. So no pics there. The first "decent" knife I bought was a Kershaw leek:

This Victorinox wasn't my first but it was my second and was given to me by my grandad to replace my first knife which I lost. My grandad has since passed away so I have retired this knife and just took it out today to get ya a pic. You can see that the Victorinox emblem is different to how it is today. And my latest knife the JK TTSK....

Yup, at its thickest point. Both the tang and blade are fully tapered so it's not as heavy as you might think. It balances right at the plunge. It takes a very good edge and stands up to serious beating.
