Your first benchmade?

I got a black combo bladed Griptilian at the PX on Ft. Hood, TX and carried it in Iraq 2006-2007.

A large bone collector. Beat the crap out of it any it still looks brand new. Tough made knives for sure.

Mini-grip satin drop point. It was too small so I ended up trading it for an Endura, which I traded for my Caly 3.5.

Now have two fullsize Grips and kinda wanting a 3rd.

My first Benchmade arrived today, a 581 Barrage. This would fit in as Secret-Agent-Black-Tie carry I think.

My first was a 690. I've bought and sold a lot of BMs but can't part with my 'firstborn'.

I bought a Benchmade 500 about 20 years ago. It took we weeks to finally decide to fork over the outrageous price of $30' but I never regretted it. I still take it with me on all hunting and camping trips. I have used it for everything from cutting pancakes at the Boy Scout camp mess hall to field dressing a feral hog. The pancakes gave it a harder workout.
The Doug Ritter Griptilian recently took it's place, but I still throw it in my pack out of force of habit.

My first locking folder was a Benchmade... used all the money I had saved at that point to acquire it while on a family vacation in Seattle.
Mini-AFCK sometime in the mid-late '90s :)

Great question and great thread. Mine was the model 30 balisong, purchased sometime in the late eighties. Prior to that point, I owned Valor and Fury Japanese-manufactured bali's but spent time everyday oogling the bali's on the back of the Balisong Manual by Jeff Imada.
