Your first benchmade?

My first two were from the red series, one folder and one fixed blade. No idea what models they were. My first "real" Benchmade was a 580 Barrage. That's retired now in favor of a Mini Bone Collector and a Rift. I don't see myself getting rid of the Barrage, I may have to pick up a 581 sometime.

My first and only. Had it for about ten years.

the 522 Presidio Ultra at the bottom was my first Benchmade and first knife ever. It actually was stolen from me by a security officer I believe and I ordered a new one as soon as I found out it was stolen. This one is retired now and needs a tune up badly. It'll always be my favorite blade ever though.

My first Benchmade was my BM583. Now I am hooked. My favorite is still my BM581. I love that knife. Prolly my favorite in my whole "collection". My BM710 fights for a lot of pocket time too.

Interestingly enough, the first BM I purchased wasn't for me. I didn't know much about BM at the time, but I knew they were made in the USA and had an exceptional warranty. I spotted a BM display stand at my local gun shop; I walked out with 2 Mini Barrage 585's, 1 for my Wife and 1 for My Daughter for Valentine's Day. Nothing says "I love you" like a lightning fast, razor sharp piece of steel.;).

After handling both the 585's, I decided to get me one. But, ended up buying this LE 585 for my Daughter's birthday.

Of course, when it came time to get mine, there were none. So, I got a HD Nitrous for my first BM. I love the thinness of the knife, the blade profile and blade length, but it's not as smooth as the 585.

My first two (three) came in the same order. The mini hardtail went back to seller cause it was CE. But the CE US Navy Grip and a Harley 13550 stayed.

Years ago, I bought a 551 Grip in 440C at a local gunstore - without checking it's sharpness - a bad move on my part. Loved the mechanics - not fond of the handle material - but it's dull blade was a shock. You'd have to use heat to get that blade to cut butter. Into the drawer it went - for years. Tryed a 201 Activator+ in D2 - great design and sheath - dull as could be! Into the drawer it went, joining that 551, some dulled Vic SAKs, and Bucks, too. I bought a Spydie Sharpmaker - and more BMs, which were all sharp. Soon, that drawer was empty... everything was - and remains - sharp. Oddly, I never would get another BM that wasn't sharp out of the box - and my latest, a 162 Bushcrafter, made #36 in my collection!

Last fall, I met, at a local sharp thing emporium, a south Alabama knifemaker - and BM senior knife designer - Mel Pardue. He had to ask if I liked the Grip family... I was honest... yep, his name was on my 551. I apologized profusely - and he was okay - it was the sharpness, something he had no control over. Interesting fellow - fantastic knifemaker. Sadly, his lovely Grip, my first BM, could very well have been my last - because it came dull. Thankfully, they have far better QC now. All 36 knives - and other than one that came missing a scale screw, hidden from sight under the clip (I remove clips!), and those first two being delivered dull, they have all been perfect. I met the owner and his son at BLADE - super nice people - great company!

This is the knife that got me into Benchmade,I still carry it on occasion.

630 Skirmish was my first. At the time it was the largest folder I'd owned. To this day I am impressed with how nice it carries in the pocket considering it's size. I was so impressed I went on to buy many many more Benchmade knives.
