Mine was a Tom Anderson Papoose with black G10 scales. I traded for it at the ST. Charles Knife Show!

If it counts, it was a John Greco MST MKII. Great knife, but I just couldn't get adjusted to it. So I think the next will be a Dozier, after I lick my wounds from the custom work on my .45.:D

Bud Nealy Aikuchi: A little beat up, but isn't that what knives are made for? Custom or not.

my first custom i got in a trade from the infamous jaxurman, a crawford titanium kasper fighting folder, a GREAT knife that i still have, and enjoy.

before i got that one, i had a CR sebenza, but lots of people say they dont count, but i know i had been spending $50 or so for knives (mostly CS/CRKT/Buck/etc) and that $300 seemed like a fortune then for a knife, not so much now lol

then i got a DDR mini maxx spearpoint w/CF handles, #3, afrom larry at bladeart, then a polkawski companion, from a fellow forumite, thenn a greco 5" tanto, same source, then a nealy 5" pesh-kabz, M2 w/signature logo blade, and custom MASS and MCS systems, ALL of them GREAT knives, w/makers who certainly stand behind the product.

example - when i got my KFF it was scuffed up, etc, sent it to pat , and he re-BB the whole knife, rebuilt lock, resigned blade, resharpened, and sent me a cool belt sheath, all for $28(shipping inc!!)!! looks 110% LNIB now, hate to carry it lol - you cannot beat that imho, and all custom makers (just about) will do the same. pat told me he loved to see his knives used and not just put up and handled, and liked to see how they hold up in the field, said me sending it in helped him evaluate his knives.........

My first custom was a DDR large Apogee. Thanks NC Blades for hooking me up with my first custom;)

Don't have one yet, Most likely I will make my own first custom. I don't see any fortune in my future yet, So, I will make my own

Lot's of beautiful knives there, folks. Wow!

My first custom was my Bob Dozier Texas #6
texas_6.jpg

This is based on his old #6 model with the blade extended to 5-1/2" (the Texas limit) and longer guards added.

My first custom folder was a Darrel Ralph Mini-Maxx
mini-maxx.jpg

4" spearpoint recurve blade in Talonite with an anodized titanium frame.

And those are my only customs so far. Both have proven exceptional in use. I carry the Mini-Maxx every day. The Texas #6 goes with me whenever I'm out in the wilds.

My first custom was a Webb & Fisher trailing point skinner. I used it for a couple of years, then gave it to my Dad.

Bought 2 folders around 1986,both from Phil Bogueszski.A spike for $125 and a folding boot knife for $175.Still have them.

When i began to collect high-end knives, which was only about 2 months ago, i was fortunate to have just come into some extra money, and i was immediately hooked on all of the amazing customs i was seeing on the net. The beautiful rare materials and the incredible craftsmanship and attention to detail were things i couldnt resist. After staying awake until 4 am every night for a week, and after seeing just about every custom available on the net, I finally narrowed it down to 2, a Dake MOP/Damascus folder and a Zscherny Black Pearl/Damascus folder. So, on those 2, i spent nearly all of my extra spending $. But, like i said, i was already smitten, and though i couldnt really afford it, within a week, i bought one more, a beautiful Mel Pardue Damascus/mammoth ivory and pearl folder. I have since run out of extra spending money, but ill never forget how pleased i was when i received each knife and i will always treasure them, they truly are, treasure. If youd like to see them, and a picture gallery of other customs, none of which are for sale, merely to enjoy looking at, go to

My first custom was this Sean McWilliams dagger I picked up in '89 or so. It's forged 154CM with nickel silver fitting and ebony handle.
