your first knife?

My first knife was a Victorinox Classic with the Los Angeles Rams (before they moved) on the plastic handles. I don't remember how old I was, but I'm pretty sure I was younger than 10. I lost that one when it fell out of my pocket down a vent in the floor at my uncle's house.

I grew up as a suburban brat, got a post-grad degree, got married, lived the yuppie lifestyle, and at age 34 had never bought a knife. I think I had a SAK as a groomsman's gift. Then my wife ditched me, I met a real woman, and started to have some fun with life. I've probably got close to 100 knives now (maybe more, I don't know). That doesn't even raise an eyebrow around here, but considering my humble beginnings I'm feeling pretty good about it.

Maybe 5 or so. My brother bought me a little black dagger with a black widow on the handle! Cool little knife for a 5 year old.

I got a Kershaw roughneck II when I was 18. Lasted all of a year. My mom found and took and didn't like to have knives in the around. It is now lost somewhere in the house.

A little funky Bowie a loooooooooong time ago... :)

I received my first knife from a friend of the family, maybe like 8 years old. Some beat up Buck-like object. My mother didn't let me have it back once we got home from his house, for years after though. She thought I wasn't "responsible enough" for it. ha ha  I hated that and was never allowed to have my own knife for an ungodly amount of time after which. Now I'm a knife maker. Odd. See what repressing yours kid's curiosities and interests will do parents! :p
