The title says it all. What started your passion for pocket knives? This could be your very first pocket knife period or perhaps your first > $50 piece.

While I've always had an affinity for edged weapons, the defining moment for me was receiving my first Spyderco, the Manix 2 XL. That managed to sate my addictive nature for a few years, surprisingly, but definitely marked the moment when anything less simply would no longer suffice.

Another pivotal one for me was the ZT0560. That was my first titanium frame lock and truly "overbuilt" piece. Still have it and carry it to this day. Unfortunately, I've lost the Manix. Even worse, it was just this year.

Let's hear about yours!

SAK spartan was the reason why I started carrying a knife but that is a ZT0350 that really make me take the jump into the “hobby” and into real utility knives

A hardware store had a display of Kabar pocket knives where I annoyed the clerks until I decided on a two-blade fish knife. A few years ago, a friend found a duplicate of that old knife and gave it to me. That was my first "real" knife and now is my only safe queen.

I carried a Buck Bantam every day for a year. Used it for everything, eventually wore the back lock out to the point where it would close if you tapped the back of the blade.
I had to replace it and the addiction began.

My very first knife was an Ontario rat 1 given to me by my boyfriend. I love that knife it has pink FRN scales. He was my first knife ever and I even named him. He will always have a special place in my heart but hands down I fell in love with the knife world after I got my ZT0562 as a birthday gift from the same man. I have had him for years and no matter how many knives I have held and owned he is still my favorite.

I have been a weapons enthusiasts as long as I can remember, but the first blade that really got me *hooked* was my dad's Gerber Gater. The one with the scaly rubber handle

The first time I saw the Case Texas Toothpick was the first time I can ever remember saying, “I gotta have that knife.”
That was 40+ yrs ago.

I grew up during the time when the Buck 110's legend was being formed. The Schrades however were my favorites, and to an extent, they still are. But it was a Stag 1980 Case Mako, call it patient zero, that infected me with this condition many of us suffer from. When I got it, I remember thinking, this is too nice to carry and use. Also thought that it was too nice of a knife not too use. So I bought another so I could satisfy both sides of my brain.
I've suffered from this affliction ever since. Still have that 1980 Stag Mako.

Vic classic.
I found one on the ground when I was 3 that my mom promptly took till i was old enough which made me want it even more.
This sparked my interest in all things sharp.

My grandfather's one and only was the humble Vic classic, he'd wear 'em out then replace it for $10 at Walmart.
I watched him do so much with the classic till he passed when I was 7.
This gave me appreciation for knives as a cutting tool.

Now my first knife love however was the Buck 110, i wanted one more than any other knife.
It was the ultimate folding knife to me that nothing compared to, to this day there's only one Buck 110 and it's still a favorite folder of mine.
It's more knife than I require, but i love it too much.

Less than 20% of the knives in my collection are pocket knives. The first pocket knife that I had was probably a Case at around the age of 8 or 9. The first pocket knife purchased after I started to seriously collect was the ZT 0900 Les George. I have tried to buy pocket knives that are designed a bit better after noticing that the knife had too much belly. I went a tad overboard and the third pocket knife purchased was a Hinderer XM-24 Wharncliffe. OY!

A smith and Wesson m&p assisted knife the blade shape was super cool. Still think the knife looks awesome. Had it for 5yrs before it fell apart on me
