I'm curious as to what people bought as their first high end folder. my first was a Hinderer XM-18. originally I was going for a Sebenza or Umnumzaan, but I ended up finding an XM-18 and couldn't pass it up. I did end up getting the Umnumzaan too, though.

I know someone is going to ask, so I'll post this now: by high end, I mean CRK or custom level quality.

Snagged this damascus toothpick off of Don Hanson III shortly after joining.

My first was a CRK small classic sebenza I bought at a knife show. Spending that kind of money on a knife didn't phase be because I am also into flashlights so I know what its like to drop a lot of money on one item.

My first was a Mel Pardue stiletto folder with beautiful snakewood scales, purchased from Mel at the NYC Custom Knife Show back in the early `80s.

My first is going to be a Les Voorhies Large Model 9 IKBS flipper. It goes in the mail today. I'm pretty excited.

My first high end folder was a large BG-42 Sebenza. Then Striders, then customs.

My first one was a custom slipjoint. I'm glad I made the investment because I used the hell out of that poor knife. It's one of my favourite EDCs.

Small Sebenza with Lignum Vitae inserts, a gift, that unfortunately ;) led to a couple of CRK purchases for myself!
