Whats your go-to resource for information? And no, you can't say bladeforums.com. Is it a website, a phone number, book?

Mine is "Machinery's Handbook 28th Ed." 2600 pages of anything you'd ever need to know about making stuff. From how to calculate the area of a sphere to material properties, how to select quench oils, (Or any kind of oil). Basically, is a machinists bible.

Are there any other good resources out there?

if the information is not exactly in a post here, somebody has posted a link to what I need. Practicalmachinist.com is another spot to go to for machinist type questions, although there are a couple machinists in here that can answer questions.

www.iforgeiron.com helped me set up my shop.... but I was refered to it from BFC... so technically they got the assist.

I try to look things up before posting questions.... but seriously, there will always be someone on BFC, who has firsthand knowledge of anything you need to know.

Spark PP's me $1 everytime I say that..... cha-ching!

The real answer to every question is "That depends"

I like books, but no one book covers all items.

As Richard pointed out above, someone here has first hand knowledge and can or has already recommended a good resource for exactly what I want to know...

...so my answer includes the now working search function here to lookup what may be long forgotten before asking something again.

I am also in the process of collecting and reading the suggested book-list Kevin Cashen has posted

Good link to the HFB site. It's like the Maker's Q&A section fed through a BS filter.

Google. Answered just about every question I have ever thrown at it, even how to fillet a fish. Yes, most knife related searches point to here or one of the other forums, but google is the place to start.
