So based on your needs and experiences, how big of a blade or blades do you carry on a daily basis? I know that when I first got into knives I wanted a 4" blade or nothing, but my preferences have changed quite a bit over the years.

How about you? Do you carry a monster or a mouse? What tasks or needs make your chosen blade size best for you?

I carry 3 knives on a daily basis. A SAK Executive, a SAK Spartan (or Pioneer), and whichever one-hand-opener I choose. The one-hander I've been carrying the past several months has a blade a tad over 3.5" (Caribbean). I can go up to 4" down to 2.75" on my one-handers. In overall blade length, I can go all the way down to however long the tiny pen blade is on my Executive. Even a tiny blade has its place; it depends on what I'm using a blade for.

I use either 2.75’´ at the office and 3.5’´ on week ends.

I guess 3-3.25 may be my sweet spot if I had to pick up only one size

Three inch blades are my usual suspects, sometimes a bit more like three and a half, other times it’s a half inch below. Today I have a mini Ritter(3”), and a Fayette Jack(2.5”) on me.

I’ve yet to run into an issue that a 3” folder couldn’t preform just as well as a 4”, so I tend to shoot for a platform that’s more comfortable for me to carry.

Somewhere between 2.63" and 3.88"

2.5" to 3.6"

My Lil' Native works for just about all of my needs around the house or at work. Anything over 3.6" is usually overkill, especially at work where 3 1/2" + blades start looking "Scary" to people, lol.

I lean towards 3.5-4" but will sometimes carry something shorter.

3 1/4-3 1/2" seems ideal for me, although the shape of the blade has something to do with it also. For instance, a Native which has approx a 3" blade, handles like a larger knife.

In an EDC folder, I generally prefer blades in the 2.9 to 3.7 inch range.

Like you I wanted a 4-inch blade. I got a Shiro F3. Perfection. But the Laconico Keen opened me up to to a smaller 3.4" size and I am now waiting to try a sub-three inch EZC.
