Your indestructables

My Busse's damned sure qualify. I have a good deal of experience tearing stuff up with my Basic 7 and Assault Shaker, and a I'm sure the others will hold up just as well when I get around to pounding on them. My bigger custom Brends also have that feeling about them. I've never taken one out and beat it up, but I'm sure they could stand up to anything I could hand them... I've beaten one of the boot size model 2's all over creation with no trouble.

Brick wall??

No hand tool is that indestructable. I broke a large prybar last year tearing down a wooden shed. OK, the prybar was old but it snapped right in two. I almost fell down the ladder :D

I trust my Al Mar SERE 2000 to be as indestructable as any folder.

I have a pretty good idea of knives can and can't do.
I know knives aren't meant to tear down brick walls.
But some of them might be able handle it for much longer than other, right?

You don't really want to try putting a $300 dollar knife to that test would you?

Just so you can say 'my knife cut 20 bricks before it snapped'

At least the other dude still has his knife...

I'm convinced that both of my aforementioned blades could successfully make an interior door a moot point. This, however, is no large feat. I am equally convinced that if I placed one beneath each tire on my 2000 Blazer, that I could go forward and backward over each numerous times with little damage (besides concrete abrasion). If I really needed my knife to escape a bricked in room in a hostage type situation, I would simply have to wait until the idiot that forgot to frisk me opened the door and got the last surprise of his life. :D

I feel compelled to post:

Large size:

H.I. 15" ang khola khukri
H.I. AK Bowie

(You can't really beat a spine that is over 1/2" thick)

Mid size:
Raker Knives Hard Wirk

Small size:
MMHW Farm & Ranch

Of course, I wouldn't want to ruin a knife if I don't have to, but let's say you got locked up by some badguys and just happened to have a knife with you. If it was a pretty sturdy room, what knife [that you own] do you feel would best suited for the job of breaking you out?

Ahem; http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=270134 .

I'm confident my HI 18" chiruwa Ang Khola would be up to the task. It's not a $300 custom, true, but it doesn't need to be. For about $145 it was more than up to the challenge. And it could be restored practically as good as new afterwards. The link above should testify to that. :D I can't think of any folder that would take a tenth of that kind of abuse though. The pivot just wouldn't take it.

I only have two knives that qualify:

Battle Rat and
Rosta-Frei "TaliWhacker". Man dat TaliWhacker make da room and da bad guys look like shredded ganja pretty quick.

No time limit was given.

They broke out of alcatraz using crude digging tools through the walls with enough time.

About any knife which wasn't junk to begin with could be used get through, given enough time.

If I don't have to do this in an hour or a day, but just do it, I have too many like the rest of you to list them here. Lets say three days [considering water needs ]

Tear down a brick wall? Give me a SAK. I'm not stupid enough to go through the brick... I'll go after the mortar.

Otherwise I'd go at it with my $5 machete. You have to be nuts or about to die if you're gonna use an expensive knife to do anything like that!

Busse Basic 9
Greco Companion
Busse Natural Outlaw (any Busse for that matter)
or my favorite: Trace Rinaldi L.E.O. (but I wouild never EVER jab that thing into a brick wall!)

I wouldn't use ANY folder for a very abusive task. They simply wouldn't handle it.

Had to share some pics of my L.E.O. with you guys... I just got it back from Trace and it is such a sweet knife I wanted to show it off!

Man...those bad guys must have been really dumb to lock you in with a weapon.

Anyway, yeah probably a busse would get you out...chop up the door dude...
hhmmmmm...

Cold steel old style tanto voyager, large blade. I've beat this sucker to hell and back and it still goes strong. I've batoned it with a brick, dug with it and at the challenge of another forum member, stabbed it into wood and pried splinters out with it. However, if it does fail, it was only $45. But it "takes a lickin and keeps on tickin." I must say that a cold steel tanto point can take the abuse.
