Ok rust can be a worst enemy than that politician, who wants to take away your knives.
But what kind of care do you use to protect your knife investment, whether a everyday knife that is carried or one of your fine collectables?

Thanks
Jeff

All my non stainless or carbon knives which are mostly traditional folders are cleaned and oiled 3 times a year with emphasis being on summer when the weather is humid and sticky. All the rest of my knives get periodically wiped down when the need arises. Having to care for over 200 knives is also a time consuming endeavor which can only be done when you have nothing else going on your plate. I guess living on the East Coast the biggest enemy is the hot humid summers. I should own stock in Simichrome LOL.

I took advantage of the Russell offer of a free sample (which turned out to be the regular sized bottle!) of their "Rust Free". I don't know just what it is. The ingrediants aren't listed other than, "Contains NO petroleum products". It's a clear, sort of thick liquid. I've put it on some regular steel blades and they haven't rusted as of yet. As a matter of fact, they look more shiny!
