Quick question to the knife gods: If you have a assisted Openning kife, for ex. The kershaw scallion, and the assist mech. fails, will and can the knife still function as a regular folding knife, or is the knife totally useless until it gets repaired??? Thanks for any info and advice!

Sunday I'll be at deer camp so my BK2 is coming with me.

Deer camp in September? Where are you that deer season opens the first week of September...or are you just scouting?

I'm going out with some friends to do prep work. We need to check on some stuff and may shoot the bows/drink a few beers! :D

One of my friends has already gone out of state for deer hunting. I want to say he went up to SC, but I may be wrong.

EDIT:

I just looked and SC deer season starts Aug. 15th!

I guess it would depend how/where it broke.

I've snapped a few torsion bars in my Kershaws but all have been operation like a regular folder after. The closed blade retention isnt as good but it still worked!

Most likely it will be this set;
and a reason? hmmmm....who really needs a reason :)
of course this doesn't include the SAK's and a few smaller slip joints that ride along for the fun...

Big weekend planned in the wilds of WV, so, i'm gonna take a ZT0300 with me. I suspect I'll be in cargo shorts all weekend and the ZT rides great in my RH cargo pocket.

I always have a slipjoint in my pocket and lately it's been this little Ohta, no reason to change it for the holiday weekend. Since I won't be at work I'll have my Tom Krein Micro Chef with me. It makes a very handy edc utility type knife for that walk in the woods and maybe a little trout fishing.

I might just drop that Erickson Swayback in my pocket too. You never know what knife you might wish you had with you!

I had a Kershaw s60v blur (blem) with me when I went camping with a few friends over the weekend. It did a great job for me on some thinner branches & food prep...it's also wonderful for shotgunning beers all weekend. :p

We did some backpack training with the dogs over the weekend in GA so I had a small Seb in RFP and a 4" FB (Green River model) that I got from the guys at Twin Blades in Statesboro. It's been a great knife so far for trail use. My wife had a PE Paramilitary with her.
