Your least favorite Bucks?

I was wondering if any of you Buck collectors had Bucks that you just really don't care that much for. I know I do. I thought I'd start it out by saying that these are my least favorite ones. I just can't seem to warm up to them. :(

Plum,

Two of my favorites. You should trade them to me.
My least favorite...humh? I'll have to think about that. Something has to be "least favorite" just can't put my finger on it.

I don't have any that I can think of. Wait there is one I can put up as a non-favorite. Back in 04 I bought a Wally Xmas buck in a black pleather box, it had a small deer cut out on the blade, at the time I did not know that any Buck knives were made oversea's...it was made in Taiwan:(

Hay PBD the Tempest is one of my favorite Buck knives...send me a message if it needs a new home. I don't have one with a ATS-34 blade

Got one of those too. It and the Battling Bucks in the tin, would have been on the top of my list, but I never considered them "real" Bucks.:thumbdn:

I do like the box though and I'd like to find some kind of plush covered foam to line it with. It would make a nice display for a nice one.

I used to be snooty about china Bucks but the new multi tool was/is one heck of a handy Buck to hang on your belt....I really liked it.I have neaver owned a Buck I did not like....Just lucky I guess.

Those are growing on me and give me pause for a day trip to Post Falls.

I went to the 5.11 store today to look at the First Responder - they were asking full retail plus the state sales tax. With my 10% military discount it was still retail. I don't have a problem buying made in Taiwan and will support allies, just not the reds.

It's funny how a man can spend an extra 50 bucks for gas to save a few buck on wholesale. Road trips are entertainment and I can't put a value on that.

I forgot where I was going with this.... BJ

Oh, eh! I bought a Sebenza this fall and it just doesn't trip my trigger like a 110 does. I'm not sure if I'll keep it - it is nice, though.

Only buy what I like and have never been dissapointed with a Buck. I do like the scales on the Alpha Hunter. I only have three Apha Hunters (two to save and one for my EDC).

Now that you've brought it up, I do have three that just don't fit my scheme of things. Honestly, I don't even know the names for sure, but they are all the folding hunter/tactical types.

First is #186 with a pocket clip. Too pointy for me.
Second is #277 Buck Proline, from Cabelas. Looks just like the wooden handled one in the first post.
third is #397 with the plastic camo handle.

One is an Alpha and one is an Omni, I believe. I have the boxes but they're not real handy right now.

I'll stick with the more traditional models, I think. Jack

Well, I also forgot a couple. They are two Mantis 198's, one has the plain blade, the other partially serrated. I bought them quite awhile ago at Big Five because they were on sale for $15 each. I'm a sucker for a sale and bought them just because they had the Buck name and because I could. Never liked or carried either one.

I haven't seen any other (but my exposure is limited) Alpha's with scales like mine. They appear to be laminated wood. Maybe someone made them and replaced the rubber ones.

I won't buy anything with strider's name on it, wouldn't carry one if given it. I can't tolerate people who have done the things he has done. Glad to see Buck ended their relationship with him, wish they never would have started it in the first place since I see it as a blemish on Bucks great history and ethic.

Got a link to information about that? I'm a newbie, so I don't know what went on.

Do a search along the lines of "strider fraud". There are many posts on it about his criminal record and their military service.

The Bantams made in China. :thumbdn: They aren't even close to the bucklites they replace. I would like to see a G10 or FRN US made Bucklite that is screwed together.

The Alpha Hunter 277 is wood and the 279 is rubber. Yours looks like a 279 with wood so they have been changed out. They did a good job.

...Actually...Buck made up a few 279's with walnut scales around 2003 for regular sales. There aren't many of them around so they are a bit hard to find...Great knife...I love mine even though it just sits around lookin' good...:)

Model Number: 279 WA Model Name : Alpha Folder Catalog Number: 5479

Plum,

This ought to get you started on Mick's history at least as posted here on the forum.
I still like my Buck Strider folder.

Thanks for posting that. It's a bit more knife history I didn't know about. I did some time in the army and can say that some folks let their imaginations away from them. I had to deal with a Spec 4 that would dress up as an LTC on the weekends. We got him the help he needed. It all sounds like old news and only a man make a decision on whether to buy a knife he manufactured. I dunno?
