Your least favorite Bucks?

There's just too much going on in that knife. If you had it rescaled with something all one color and no kokopelli, the engraved bolsters would be the design element.

Well, after the Yellowhorse explosion......a spin-off market of ill-conceived and mass-produced imitations enjoyed some success.....thus many ugly knives were born.

:)

I think it's a stretch to call that engraving.

This is my latest and least favorite as I was expecting an unused 4 dot 112 new in box, I quess I can call him stanley and let it be or maybe I should remove anybody seen Mr. Morgan before is he a special run, done after the factory for someone, would buck remove him for me ? I quess it should be said buyer beware, maybe I can get him a flute and let him join plumberdv's band. That looks like you could find it in the dark though with those scales plumberdv, sorry always trying to find the positive.

Either BUCK or Leroy at Triple R Knives can grey-wheel the blade and you'll never know it was there.

Thanks Mitch will probably send to buck as I have a whole bunch to go get the spa treatment, great knife just was not expecting to see Morgan on the blade, we shall see buck work their magic

I have two Bucks that are my least favorite; a 301 Stockman and a 501 Squire. I have to admit though, the 301 has grown on me a bit, and I find myself pocketing it a lot more.

I really want to love the Squire, I truly do. It's the perfect size knife for my usage, yet it still carries nicely in the pocket. I actually started to overlook the whole funky backspring issue this series seems to suffer from, and finally reprofiled the slight curve out of the edge right by the kick, so I could sharpen it more easily. Then, when I pulled it out of my pocket last weekend to admire it, I noticed that the scale on one side has some up and down movement. It just doesn't seem like this knife and I are ever going to have a long term relationship:p

I pretty much like all of my Buck's, but if I was to get rid of any of them, I'd get rid of my short nighthawk and not regret it. I originally thought it would make a decent hunting knife with the 5" blade and I was on a serrations kick at the time. The handle is very comfortable, but as a hunting knife, it's heavy, the blade is thick, and the serrations don't help at all. I know it wasn't designed as a hunting knife, but the knife still doesn't do anything for me as compared to other tactical knives I have. Back to the old faithful #105.

This utter waste of steel and aluminum was gifted to me by my ex-motherinlaw.....
I thought I could use the bottle opener.....but it's clumsy and uncomfortable...
I think I used it once to open some mail......:barf::barf::barf:

Oh yeah, I forgot to add this one too. I thought it would make a good little blade to put on my fishing license lanyard to cut braided line. It actually did that well, but was heavy around my neck, hard to open, and like said above, the bottle opener was harder than using my car key.

Since the thread asks for my opinion and since I ended up being a collector of discontinued Bucks, I do not have the experience with many other models other than the ones I collect.

I would like to see the Dymondwood, Chairman, yellow and most clipper 300s dropped from the current line, replaced by only sawcut yellow to go with the old standard black sawcut 300s. But in their place I would like jigged bone and stag sets, real bone and decent not heavy grooved stag, with premium blades in the 301,302,303 and 309s. I will gladly pay 10 to 20 dollars more for those.

The Clipper is a speciality knife and only needs to be made in one scale type, I would say yellow if someone wanted one for pocket carry and I will give in to a pink for visibility in purse storage and it supports a good cause.

Many of the knives you guys discuss I have no desire to own. My go to the woods knives are the 112, Vanguard and old discontinued 121. My zombie knife is a 119.
I do like the small Vantage, I like them as a grab and go carry knife and would love to see a jigged bone or stag scaled model. In fact I bought some jigged slabs at a knife show to make one.....

So after that long discussion, to be concise and wrap-up, my least favorite Buck knife is some modernistic looking (likely with a serrated blade) model that is not selling well, whose investment funds and assembly line could be used to make us a nice premium steel bladed , bone handled set of Stockmen and Jackknives. Maybe even a Warcliff bladed one.

I agree with sitflyer the metro is quite possibly one of the ugliest knives I have seen I've got an orange one somewhere.

Speaking only of the Bucks I own I'd say the Small Vantage Pro is my least favorite but even as such it's only in that category because I find it a little too small for my hand and not because of any issue with the design or manufacture. Even as my "least" favorite it still has a special place, just not in my pocket.

Plum,
If you want to get rid of it, (your Aztec inlay plastic 110) let me know. I know someone who loves collecting kitch. But I understand you may wish to keep it as reference (to show how good your other knives are by comparison)! :D
