Your modern folder collections

My military family accumulation. Not much.

That's a good collection, gotta like the Milies.

My collection of "modern folders" is modest compared to some of the others, but here is what I have now.

Sorry for the lousy pics. :thumbed:

How do you like the speedform? I saw an ad for it in the Blade magazine. I was a little disappointing when I found out how expensive it was. Also, I am thinking on buying one of those ZTs. Is the AG knife any good also?

Hi FA -

I liked the Speedform, it is a very nice knife - smooth action and very nice in hand. The blade is really stabby/pointy. The finishes and the blade were really outstanding. It was a spendy knife, and I recently sold it to a friend who wanted one but could not find a decent deal. I will use the money from that knife to fund my upcoming Tilt. :^)

The ZT0551 is a great knife. It's a fatty! Stout and well built, with great ergos that are confidence inspiring. I might wait now for one of the next ZT/Hinderer collaboration knives that will be coming out instead of looking for an 0551, but either way you will have a very nice, rugged knife.

The AG Russell knife is really outstanding, but it is built for less rugged use. Not to say it is not well built, but it is not a knife that I would use for chopping etc., it is a very nice quality modern gentlemans pocket-clip folder. The materials are top rate (titanium, ZDP-189), the grind is one of the most beautiful of anything in my collection, and the knife is buttery smooth in action. My particular example has a little bit of a weak lockbar, which allows some up-and-down blade play, but I think I can take the knife apart and correct that with a little lock-bar bending. If that does not correct it, I will send the knife to AG Russell, as that company is at the top of the customer service heap in terms of making sure you are happy with your purchase. My Acies is one of my favorites for daily carry, and the blade can be made very, VERY sharp. All in all, a great knife, but again, one that is fairly spendy (~$380 new).

best regards -

I thought it would be nice to put them in a video for everyone to watch, it was in no way anything against the forum!

No its all cool. Nice collection. :)

Here are my frame locks. Not quite all of them but getting close I think.

Left to right is

M4 Military, 10 year old Demko custom frame lock, CRKTS-2, Kershaw JYDII SG2, ZT0551,SRM939 modified by me, BUSSTR by me, Mission 3" modified by me, Rainbow Leek, below in camo SRM710, and four little custom frame locks by now retired Dick Atkinson. Classic folders by Atkinson there. That top one is my fave.

Here's my dilemma...Do I post a picture of my measly collection, or do I just drool over all the awesome knives on display here? :D

I have quite a few more but y'all get the idea.

Looks like your knives show some good use

What is the cutoff for modern folder? Anything not vintage? Not that I have any old folders, I'm just curious.

Ok, here is my very modest collection...did I mention...very modest? After seeing some of the incredible knives in this thread, I have something to aspire too! :D
