Your Opinion on the BEST overall knife Company?!

It seems as of late that Benchmade like to replace G10 handled knives with Aluminum. I don't know why that is, but they're moving in the opposite direction I want to see. Not to say they're a bad company, but they aren't the company I used to know and love.

Best wishes,
3G

I agree also. I hate aluminum handled knives. I like Spyderco stainless but I just hate seeing G10 replaced with aluminum. Yuck. :barf:

Benchmade aluminum mostly falls under-Warren Osborne designs; and tacticals-presidios, nimravuses, and autos. I dunno why Osborne loves it so much, but BM is in love with the bi-directional texture thing, and autos from everyone for some unknown reason are aluminum-Ochs, Microtech, Al Mar, Dalton, Protech...

Spyderco is my absolute favorite.

Ranger Knives, Swamp Rat Knives, Busse Combat, and Himalayan Imports is up there, too. Justin, Eric, Jerry, and Yangdu deserve a larger loyal following than they already have.

I know Kershaw is good, and love the looks and rationale behind Ken Onion's designs for them, but there aren't enough lefty-friendly pocket clips on their knives (hint hint! ;) ).

 AMEN 3guardsmen:D  Spyderco all the way!:) You write poetry  !!! I couldnt agree more, and believe that others that look at "the big picture" will have no choice but to agree:D

I'm going to agree with Cold Steel being no. 1.
I collect so I like variety. I have 2 Spyderco's both are excellent knives. But I can't see me buying more than 2 more of their range (Harpey & Bob Lum Tanto). The rest are to simular.
I've 10ish Cold Steels are they're all different designs

What do you like about your Cold Steel knives?

One word comes to mind: Spyderco as far as your criteria goes. The first thing that came to mind was Chris Reeves Knives, bar none.

I'd say Spyderco sets the standard. Some other companies might shine and even have better offerings now and then, but Spyderco is the company they strive to beat.

Spyderco, 3G's post is dead on.

Kershaw. Thomas W, things begain a little shakey for you around here. (meant as "some of us here" didn't have a high opinion of Kershaw) For me, I just didn't know a lot about your co. You have stuck it out and I have seen a 180 deg. turn around on Kershaw's rep. here. Thanks to you. (although it has hit me in the pocket book hard, but I love it!):D I know we say this all the time, but thank you for being a presence here at BFs.

Impossible to answer. Many companies make knives for other companies. Are Taiwanese knives made for Cold Steel really Cold Steel knives or just have their name on them? There is information about this business that we can never find out.

Also, each company tries to take a niche out of the market. Is a company that caters to the $100 - $200 buyers a better company the one the goes after the $30 - $50 buyers? Not necessarily.

Anyway, I'll say it again: impossible question to answer with any real validity.
