Ok...I got first dibs on this, seller emailed me - its yours.

Then I log in to find the seller has promptly sold it to someone else.

No honour around here is there.

I hope the buyer enjoys the knife.

My credit card now has $1100 sat in credit for nothing, gee thanks to the seller for messing me around.

Again, no bloody honour is there?$?&?

See below.

" Not a problem to ship to NZ, just add $10. It's yours. Paypal address is xxxxxxxx@gmail.com. $875 + $10 shipping and $30 paypal fees (or gift option if you prefer).

Best,

Daniel"

Jaytaylor - I emailed you and PM'd you IMMEDIATELY after you posted I'll take it. I went out of my way to calculate the extra postage cost to New Zealand, which as is indicated above was not a problem. After my email I waited A FULL DAY but NEVER heard back from you. Accordingly, I sold the knife to the next poster who wanted to buy it. My sincere apologies for any inconvenience, but I waited a full day before moving on to the next buyer.

As indicated in my original post, I need a new computer, and such need is rather urgent, as I depend on my laptop for work. I reiterate - I am sincerely sorry for the inconvenience of not selling you my knife - but I feel my actions were reasonable.

Hopefully, big_ski, God would wait to hear both sides of the story before rendering judgment.

Ok, let's get something clear, you did not wait a full day which is 24 hours.

From telling me it was mine and your SPF to another buyer it was 7 hours and 36 minutes approx, bearing in mind that I am in a different time zone and I was at work in meetings for most of the day I was unable to respond in whatever your expected time was.
You gave no warning, no follow up communication to say you need it turning around ASAP - nothing.

I have made a transfer to my credit card of $1100 to cover the PayPal transaction, it's a good job I checked the forums before paying isn't it otherwise that would have been a costly mistake.

You should have emailed me about any urgency or at the very least let me know about the transaction with another buyer to stop me from sending a pointless payment and incurring cost.

It was poor forum etiquette on your part.

I will gladly mark you up as one to avoid in the future.

Just incase you were so wondering if I was serious about buying the knife.

Well, since it's in here...

I always add..follow up with communication or I will move on to the next offer in line in my sales threads. Seems to work things along.

Just my .02

It is at the sellers discretion to choose to sell to whomever he chooses, but this was poor etiquette on his part as he said he waited a full day while the FS thread shows a period of about 7 hours elapsed. As much as this may upset you Jaytalor, there isn't much to be done besides venting so it would be in your best interest to let this pass. Perhaps you'll find what you're looking for another day.....I would be happy with just one :(

The seller shouldve added CONUS only and that would have covered his tracks. Im sick of these foreigners complaining that we (Americans) are not fair to them! So he lost out on one deal. I dont know what the item was but there will prob be another one eventually! I sure hope it wasn't another Hinderer!

A response worthy of whine & cheese. Thanks for the intelligent input.

some of the best trades ive ever done were with "Foreigners". people tend to speak up when they feel that they have been treated unfairly, regardless of whether or not they are americans.

on a side note, i always mention in my sale threads that i will ship internationally provided that they agree to my terms, which are usually pretty simple. you not only have to pay for whatever Shipping method you want, but also an additional $10 for making me do all the paperwork to mail it to you. and once i hand it over to the post office, its no longer my problem. if the're knife gets lost on the way there, then so be it. but there will be no refund in that instance. the same thing goes for if the box is opened and the knife is eather damaged or altered by customs (they have been known to do some wacky stuff to folding knives).

i think in this instance it ws an honest mistake on the part of the seller.

That's pretty messed up. I'm an American overseas currently and since then i've made a few purchases with no hiccups. I have friends that aren't American that do overseas purchasing/travelling. Your sig shows you support the UA WWP, which is respectable, but your words just now are trash.

If you check out foreigners who have made recent/many purchases with folks in the states, you don't generally get mishaps like some of the random people who cry foul. After the i'll take it, email/pm's should been sent out, if none were, i'd say it was kinda shody to just pass him up.

Again, these problems can easily be avoided by keeping a few things in mind:

- Make sure that you clearly set your sales terms. Keep things simple as to how you expect to be paid, when you expect to be paid, how you expect to be paid, and how best to reach you.

- Work out details to be certain there is nothing left to misinterpret. Too many details ruin potential deals, not enough does the same thing.

- A seller can sell to whomever they like. It's their prerogative, always has been. But to avoid issues and confusion, it's always better to be extremely clear and not vGue at all.

- Lastly, taking issues into a person's sales thread isn't acceptable. That is what PM or email is best suited for. Further problems should always be reported using the black triangle, or PM a moderator. You have to be careful too when jamming up a sales thread because you have the potential to end up making yourself look just as bad or worse than the other party.

This is silly. I have no problem shipping out of the country, and I do it frequently. I just ask that the buyer pay the extra cost of shipping.

In this case, the gentleman said "ill take it," then made NO further contact despite a pm AND an email from me. I waited the rest of the day and did not hear from him. After eight hours had elapsed, I moved on to the next buyer who was ready to pay immediately, and with whom I'd previously done business.

I don't see how this is an issue, nor do I see how it was bad etiquette on my part. Next time, follow up with some kind of communication.

The time difference is a consideration, being on the other side of the planet and all. Silly or not, it came up now we all have to deal with it. I doubt anything positive can come of this, let's call it water under the bridge and move on.
