what wood do you like best for looks spalted sycamore spalted maple or desert ironwood for me its very hard to choose one.

I think it's a really personal thing; I happen to like desert ironwood (of the three you listed).

Generally though, all else being equal, I prefer the desert ironwood.

My preference of those three is definitely ironwood, as long as it is nicely figured. It is the hardest and most stable of the three, and I love the colour.

I love desert ironwood. That wood be my choice. Another one to consider, mesquite. The grain is beautiful. This is a knife I did with mesquite.

I love desert ironwood but have stabilized some spalted sycamore and had it come out looking like mammoth ivory. It was uncanny how nice it looked. Mike
