Your sheath of choice??

so say ya got a fat Ash1 that you would like to carry on you when your out camping, not tons of hiking but some. in this case you don't need a show piece just a comfortable as hell set up.
do you go for leather or kydex? whats the closest you can get to not knowing a 12" .32" fat knife is on your side??
any input from those who carry Ash knives would be appreciated.. im looking at you Andy ;)

I like leather much better than kydex. Looks more traditional, quieter, etc. The only real issue is if the inside gets wet it takes a while to dry. We managed to survive a long time without kydex.
 
If its a CG, Eric at Mashed Cat does great work for a Kydex Sheath , If it is satin Chuddy Bear Leather all day everyday!!!-I also totally agree with the above statement about leather
 
I'm a leather fan, I also like spec ops combat masters. Kydex just doesn't do it for me for knives
 
Strapping it to anything but my belt and I love kydex... but I just feel like leather would be much more comfortable to be on the belt.. an quieter... however I have never done it an it's just an assumption...
 
Going over some of the same considerations myself. I have a leather Baldric type sheath (Chubby Bear, I believe) on the way, along w/ a blade I secured recently. The more I look at options the more Im liking the idea of baldric carry, leather or otherwise...very much looking forward to trying it..If I like it I may commission one in a kydex or canvas/carbon fiber..

I like combo kydex and nylon sheaths and i like leather. For the Ash Bg i got I chose kydex and nylon.

Your belt is as important as your sheath when carrying such a thick heavy knife. A nice stiff belt will help regulate the weight around a larger area than a thinner more flexible belt will.

Choose wisely and you will have no trouble at all with a heavy load. Ask anyone who totes a heavy sidearm daily.

WHERE DID YOU GET THAT?? I thought that 360 guy on bladeforums used to make those but didn't think he did anymore..
 
Made it myself, a couple of the kydex guys on here will set the eyelets right for the Esee back and pouch for you.
 
I don't have an ash, buy my TG and small elmax fixed busse is leather.
Leather only for me.
 
Leather for INFI and kydex for SR101.

Chuddy Bear and Mashed Cat are my preferred providers. Stoked to try out some Skystorm/Patriot leather for the Battle Saw.
 
I go with leather and my belt is bullhide so weight doesn't bother me.
