This has been done before, but maybe it's time to do it again :)

What do you use for a knife in your shop? Do you use one of your own?

I have several of my own... 90% of which do not have a handle ;) I also fetched a lot of Hyde utility knives out of the trash at work as they just threw them away after using them once.

I'll try to get a pic at some point of mine.

So wha-cha got??? :D

I have one of my early small convex utilities that I made with tan canvas micarta and O-1. Here's a picture:

But most of the time, if I need to cut something, I reach into my pocket for whatever factory folder I'm carrying that day instead of walking over to the bench for my shop knife. :)

Knocked a couple of these out of 1095 and treated the blade with ferric chloride so it would not rust. It deserves a good picture for all the abuse it gets. Been sharpend a couple of times, still lots of blade left.

I have a number of them........they are called screwups. My new personal knife is a 5 1/2 inch small W2 fighter with an amboyna handle. I had some slight irregularities with the fit and finish on the handle/ferrule junction, so now it is mine. It even has a Paul Long sheath.:D

Some good looking shop knives!

For me, I don't know yet, my delta sa180 just came in today and I still need to clean the garage. Most likely whatever is on my belt, and I guess eventually whatever I'm working on.

I just started using this little guy for cutting leather for sheaths. Quickest knife I ever made.

Here's mine, one of many failed attempts. Started as hollow grind, then changed and went to flat, then got bored and made a half @ss attempt at engine turning.

i make one and use it a while and then brake or sell it "used" and most the time i do mean USED
i have now been through 3 neckers (all wharnnie) and 1.5 folders ( i want a new folder )
i ll have to get a picture of my workers (got to call a friend about gettign the one necker)

Most of the time its the Leatherman on my belt, either the straight clip point blade or the serrated one. Have sent these sucker in a couple of times to get snapped parts swamped out. It's due for another service call. For many other applications I use a set of piggy backed Case knives. I guess after that it'd be folding utility/sheet-rock knives, X-actos and a machete.

my shop knife is usually one of the folders I carry , or a Matrix by Trace.
I always have one of those folding utility blade " Super Knife " things for cutting sand papers and red spacer material ( though I found surgical scissors work great for that ).

I have a couple of my early ones laying around to use as well , will have to remember to get a pict of them. One is 01 and the other is S30v.

Nick is still on page one of the owners manual of his camera.... wait till he figures out he can't post polaroids on the web ;)

i guess i'm unique in that i can never find a #@$@%@ knife in my shop. I know they're there... but i can never find one when i need one. I end up going into my house to grab my leatherman or my CRKT Edgie friction folder or whatnot when i need a knife.

:D Same here. There a lot of knives in my shop, or is there any? I'm not sure :p...
Last one I saw about a week ago was that I built from a messed up knife salvaged from trash bin :

for stuff that could mess up a blade I usually use what's left of a Solingen Stainless blade that I cut an inch of the edge off of with my first knife on a bet (I won the $100.00) the guy never took the knife out of the vise, it's been in my toolbox for radiator hoses ever since. Other than that I use whatever I have on my belt

I've got half a Japanese short sword I broke in half I use:) It reminds me to not try to straighten out anything unless you know what your doing.
