Your thoughts needed....please read and respond

Andy,
I hope this forum isn't all "blow and no show" !!!
BUSSE fans, let Andy and jerry know that there are individuals that appreciate a TOP of the line (asset)like BUSSE COMBAT.
Need to let this concept be spread to the four corners, like at the BLADE show.

My reasoning for asking that the first knife be a HUNTER/SKINNER is that it would be a "first" for BUSSE COMBAT. Whatever is decided will be A-OK.

Press on Andy,
With Friendship,
Rick

Maybe someone can dig up the Busse/Keating design? I guess I want to see a big fast fighter!

It is all Greek to me

In the UK few people will part with $100 for a knife let alone $300. I know the USA has a greater cutlery market with big collectors with money to burn.

There are hundreds who would say go for it. BUT are they all mouth and no $$$$$$$.

How many to a limited addition - 100, 1000? How many could the market handle? How many Busses are sold and what % of this market are you going to take? Would Jerry produce your limited additions five years down the line once you have established the market. How much are you going to spend on marketing? The ones you don't sell you say you are going to destroy. How much will this cost. Are the designs going to compete with Jerry's? Every cutlery $ spent with you is cutlery $'s not spent on Busse.

You know your market better than me, but do you want to make money or just enjoy a hobby?

Window shoppers don't make you money. Big sellers have always been Applegate-Fairbairn daggers. They sell because they look good, and it wouldn't compete with main line Busse.

I like A.P. Limited.

As for the knife, I'd like a 6" blade, 3/16 stock of INFI. As for the finish the smooth satin look of the handles on the MS, SH, BM would be the way to go, you know? And maybe a unique handle material. Either stencil the handle or stamp or otherwise mark the blade. Call it the A.P. ______ and add the number...

Throwers aren't my thing, so I can't comment. I have a problem throwing expensive knives, I'd hate to damage it.

But Andy, keep up the good work.

Do it right,or not at all.

APL Works for me, infinite possibilities for Logo art work.

A Hunter/skinner would be fantastic, especially if the blade was a thin one.

Good luck!

The fighter works for me!

As to using your name, there is a small concern. Say five or ten years down the line you have done pretty well, and you want to retire early or pursue something else. Would you want to sell a company with your name on it? What if it became embroiled in some controversy? Your name would be dragged along with your company. I’ll admit I associate your name with Busse Knives now. And it would be a pretty big ego stroke to have a company named after you. Prisco is a pretty good sounding name. I’m not sure what I would do in your shoes.

How about ?.....
a) APL strops (bench and travel size)
b) A very thin MS for the kitchen. they can be sold in sets of four as steak knives! this thin MS can be called "Mean Kitchen" or "Kitchen Street" or something like that!
"nuclear tough" make way for "dishwasher safe"

Perhaps the tides turns... A hunter/skinner by BUSSE would be an instant success. My input remains as before. A collectable if there ever was....

A fighter sounds good. will definately buy a SH E, Camo Micarta Handle with a satin finished blade.
Sharper Instinct Limited Edition sounds good

The Name is fine, as long as you like it.

I also think a fighter in satin finish would be just great

I'd like to see you get Busse to knock out some drop point hunters; sort of like a smaller Steel Heart with a thinner (3/16" thick), steel.

Or how about a Mean Street Hunter, w/ a blade 3/16" thick? Lets face it, even in combat, knives more than likely are going to be used as tools, and not as weapons. Presently, I find the Mean Streets way too thick, at 1/4".

It would be great if you'd get Busse to produce some blades for woodsmen that don't have rubber handles, and are not priced over $150. I guess a modified Basic 5 or a Basic 7 w/ Micarta handles, a brown leather sheath, 3/16" INFI or M-INFI and NOT coated black, is what I'm hinting at.
