Your Thoughts On An EDC :)

Good Afternoon! I'm looking for a fixed EDC with a small blade ( 2"-3") with a handle that is larger than the blade (4 3/4"+) in case I need to apply extra leverage. Custom or otherwise. Thoughts and pictures are very welcome. Thank you all. Merry Christmas. Mike

There are some Fiddleback Forge small fixed blades that come close to your specs. The Hiking Buddy blade is 3.1" and the handle is 4.4". It is a very comfortable handle and I can't imagine having any issues with using a lot of pressure on a cut. There are also some FbF with shorter blades, but I don't know the handle length on those.

Now you're TALKIN' !
A man after my knife collection.
First one isn't a fixed but the idea was LOTS of handle and a smaller blade for power and control.

Next up is fixed, all the way, but takes some doing if you want high performance cutting (thin blade) with that Big 'ssed handle.

I love using it. The sheath sucks / dulls the edge. As a sheath it is great; goes on and off well and stays on. I may add a layer to protect the edge and rerivit it.

I don't have a photo of mine but if you look in the custom knifemakers sales area for Austin Goldman he makes some very reasonably priced knives with short blades/long handles.

Looking at my photo in another thread I realized that the Dozier Personal that I used to own might fit your requirements.

The handle is a little shorter than your desired length, but check out the Bark River Mini Fox River. The Dozier Modified Personal is another great option; as is the SwampRat Rodent 3. I can't access pictures right now;but I'll try to remember to post them in the morning.

(Edited to add - if you can find one available, the Rodent Solution might just be the knife you want)

Price range?
I pocket carry a BRKT adventurer, it's pretty close to your size specs, Elmax steel, and there is a pretty wide variety of handle materials.
There is also the adventurer 2 that is a little larger but has a belt loop on it's sheath if you prefer to carry it that way.

This Anza has been a great EDC. They don't make this exact knife any more. The closest thing to it has a micarta handle. I gave one to my son last summer and he loves it. Very tough utility knife.
I think the size fits your requirements. Comes with a leather sheath that I pocket carry. My boy had his modded for horizontal belt carry. Not expensive.

I like to EDC the same style & size you mention. I like a thick handle that I can get a positive grip on no matter what. I also like a lanyard hole. So I can fix a small lanyard on to make drawing it easier. So, the Busse Trail Scalpel is quickly becoming my favorite. They just landed in folks mailboxes. You may try the Busse exchange and see if you can score one if that looks like it will work for you. Also, I hit Pirtle up for a custom back pocket carry sheath. Once I get that, I am gonna carry it all the time.

In that above pic, by HHMOORE, the top knife is a Bradford Guardian3. I have three of them, two in M390 and one in CPM-3V. I gave one to my older son, and I wear mine in its horizontal belt sheath every day. I still carry my folder that I've used for two yrs, but most of the time I pull out the Bradford. I do have a size LARGE hand, and this knife allows a full-hand fit.
Note that the finger choil is there for you to use, and allows a full grip WITH a shorter handle.
This, for me, is the SOLUTION.

What he said
I, too, ended up with 3...coincidentally, in the same breakdown (2x M390, 1x 3V). I wear large or extra large gloves, depending on the fit (usually XL); and I now find the Guardian 3 quite comfortable...though it was the 3D handle that allowed me to warm up to the knife.

(I'm not sure HOW I ended up with 3, honestly...two were intended as gifts; but the silly bass turds declined them because they "don't carry knives". )

I agree, I also have a Michael Morris, they are tough knives and really well made.
