Your thoughts on my recent purchase

I really like my 7 and the sheath works, though I made a couple easy mods so it rides higher on the belt and I toughened up the lower part, so it won't snag on brush as bad.

longbow you have any pics of the back of the sheath?

My thoughts are that the BK7 is a solid purchase no matter how you look at it. My wife carries one in her day pack. I tend toward the BK9 because I think it's a better chopper. Either way, however, you can't go wrong.

Here's my rig that lives in my day pack. Knife has the micarta scales with some inner tube for extra grip. Sheath pouch contains a signal whistle, a Swedish firesteel, small Bic lighter, some waterproof matches, a couple of fire straws, and a Photon II.

The inner tube is a good idea, did you slip it on and then heat it?

Nope, it's just standard bicycle inner tube. Kind of a pain to get on there, but it fits nice and tightly. While the micarta scales are grippier than the standard Camillus offering, a little piece of inner tube improves both types of scales IMO.

If you put some inner tube on your knife, I recommend keeping it in the sheath as you stretch it over the butt of the handle. Putting some tubing on my unsheathed BK7, I slipped and sliced my thumb a little. Easy to do with all the tugging on the inner tube.

Keep the knife in the sheath and just squeeze the sheath between your legs as you work. That's what I did with the BK9, and I think it's the safest route. Just pretend you're putting on a really, really tight condom. :D

I am not a fan of big knives though I own several. The BK9 is my favorite of those, maybe because I have large hands. On occasion I carry one of my big knives thinking maybe I missed something. Nope. Never the less the Becker line is pretty much bomb proof. I'm going to try Longbow's bike tube handle wrap.

Can't beat the Beckers for the price. Carried one while on active duty and put it thru he**! Also, check out the Glock knives. They are a good bargain although I do prefer the BK7.

BUZ, no pic of the flip side. I used paracord to tie the belt loop on the sheath, to the leg tie grommets on the bottom of the sheath. Then I added the ranger bands (bicycle inner tube).

I like mine very much, too. I have the BK7 AND BK9, though the 9 is abit big for belt carry (plus it scares the "sheeple!")
Heres the kit I carry in mine in a Garmin GPS pouch attached to the front.

I carry much the same kit in my 7, 9 & SRKW Battle Rat (which funnily enough has an almost identical sheath to the beckers!)

Wow! What is all that stuff? I want to go that way with mine but man that is cool.

My BK9 its been through hell and I just ordered a BK1 yesterday from 1sks. I love these knives and Bill Siegle Knives as well.

I should be getting a BK7 in the mail tomorrow. I own a Cold Steel SRK and it's made like a tank; I like using it a lot, but I figured I'd try a Becker and see which I like more. I'm telling myself I'll sell the one I like least, but I suspect I'll keep them both:D

KKHansen--Where can you get the grips re-done like that?

Those grips started out as 1/2 slabs of Micarta, drilled, shaped and Loveless riveted in place with epoxy and then shaped to fit.

Same thing with my BK9 that I reworked. This was an earlier picture and the grips have been refined since then.

Hopefully I will have BK11, BK2,BK1 and BK10, finished soon with new grips

Hi I just ordered the very last custom y2k from Bud, who said he would no longer make any more even if it was a special order. The coat had a small dimple of imperfection on blade, but because it was the last one, I bought it immediately, Funny though, the mcs 11 sheath system it came with didn't have a magenet in it. Does anyone know about ths?

Sorry for the confusion. What I mean is, where could i get that done to a knife of my own? I cant do it.
