Your Thoughts On SpeedSafe ?

The only downside to speedsafe is that tbars break, and when they do, the feeling in your stomach is rivaled only by the "click" of a trigger pull on a malfunctioning m16. Other than that, speedsafe is awesome. However my last purchase of a zt0550 was because I wanted something to count on no matter what.

I like it enough to eventually do this to my scallion. :D

I love the simplicity of it compared with other A/O systems. It's especially nice if the model has a detent as well, that way it'll still work if the torsion bar breaks.

I do really like it, but I think the marketing side of it needs to lie off the "safety" aspect of things. It really doesn't lend any safety to it, and I would argue that it presents some dangers actually. I have had a "Needs Work" come open in my pocket, and not to mention the unfamiliarity of the knife "springing" open comes as a shock to some. I've also had the knife slip from my hands as I closed it, and the bias of the spring made it leap forward and it came to a rest with the edge on the side of my finger, but luckily it didn't cut me.

Still it's pretty handy as far as one-hand opening goes.

No I think it does add alot of safety to the knife. It forces you to close the knife with your thumb, thus it's impossible to close it on your thumb. I've shut my skyline on my nail a few times. One of these days it's gonna bite.

I think it could be better. All of the speedsafes I have owned are nice but lack in speed and force. I can flick most of my manual folders out faster than any of my speedsafe knives. I think Kershaw should strengthen their torsion bars a little more.
