Your thoughts...

I liked the Wharcom. I prefer the shape for all around utility like tape, plastic bags, etc. My favorite of the that series was the Subcom Fixed. That is a great knife.

I am a huge fan of your designs. Never owned one yet that wasnt very well thought out and had excellent ergos. Im a bigger folding knife fan and i wish we coild get a 4.5 to 5" folder design out of you and that boker would go better on materials and upgrade....but still in reach price wise for a working stiff like myself. A bigger direckt would be awesome or even a newer design. You didn't ask for a wish list but.......

Aloha Rolf!!!

Good to see you! Got any size preference? I DO have a bunch of old designs along those lines...heck, I even have a SubCom Tanto-ish that got shut down...

All is not well knifebrother, but thank you for asking!

Be safe!

As of the past few days I've come to like the Subcom a lot and now kick my butt for noy buying the Wharcom or Claw when they were around and I had still the money for it (too occupied with fully serrated Spydies at that time LOL :D )
However I would love to have a regular G10 Subcom with the wharny blade.

Love the Trance maybe evenmore, but they don't sell em over here anymore and it's too costly to let it come over via the US.

Would love one in Satin finish PE:)

Got a black Trance CE back then from Chad to try out and beat the snot out of it at work.
After months of heavy use the liner lock didn't move a hair and it had only the slightest amount of side to side play, easy corrected by the pivot screw.

Great knife as well

Alohallo Hulk...er...Arend,

Great seeing you here. Ahhhh, been there asked that for a G10 scaled SubCom. No go...even asked for a Trance G10...no go on that one either.

LOL, I remember that SpyderEdge phase of yours! Gotta admit, that edge style keeps cutting and cutting and...

Miss ya big man...hope you and your family have been well!

I saw no need to sharpen it. It was not utility knife for me. It was for exacly what I showed in the video, slashing someone accross the face to get away. My daugher now in college still carries her'e centerlin time to time IWB when going out and about.- George

Mercop sir...gotta love that.

Thank YOU for chiming in!

Aloha and welcome adnj,

Thank you...especially for liking the SubCom FB. It really IS a great knife, and you should have seen the cutting ability of the ones Chase Axinn made for me...slightly thinner, and one was more along the lines of the MPT with a drop point. Slashed soda cans in half cleanly!!!

Aloha again Mercop,

Sir, I been looking for that Bag of Evil write up you did to put on my site, which is under construction. Is the "little something" the article?

Be safe sir!

Aloha knifebrother!

Hope you have been well. Roger that on the larger knives...kinda hard though right now with Vox using the Boker budget for all his great designs! I'll keep trying though, because I *think* I left my mark in the small knife world, and I *would* like to get my large folder/FB designs off the pieces of paper they're on and into pockets and sheaths!!!

Thanks for chiming in!

Sorry for the late reply, Chad, didn't notice the thread. I have a WharCom and it's a great knife. I use it primarily as a high-quality utility knife for home repair projects. The steel takes and holds a razor edge and holds it well. The knife just clips conveniently to a jeans watch pocket. Easy one hand operation. I was surprised to see it discontinued when they did that. It's a good design. Great ergonomics, like your other designs that I own (KeyCom, Hyper).

I never got a SubClaw. I don't have a lot of use for a curved blade like that, though I always thought the SubCom was a good design.

Aloha jc57,

No problem sir, I was very late in getting back to this thread. YES...I too, was surprised, and didn't even know the WharCom AND SubClaw were getting the axe. Had I known, I'd have tried to order a bunch. Ahhhh the Hyper...I was just carrying mine the other day, it's still awaiting a general cleaning on the entertainment center. Not sure, but I think the Hyper is getting the axe as well, if not already. Ugh.

Thanks for your kind words, and for enjoying my designs!

Be safe!

Shame about the Hyper. Flat and light, but very ergonomic for a compact size. The blade shape reminds me of a shorter Kershaw Blur or ZT 350 with less recurve. Mine is perfectly centered and the pivot is smooth as silk and easy to open. Deep carry clip and decent but not aggressive jimping right where you need it.

To me it's a classic knife design and very practical. Fits a lot of blade in a lightweight package.

Clearly you spent a lot of time in your designs thinking on how people would actually HOLD and USE your knives.

Guess there's only so many designs they want to manufacture at the same time and people want something new.

Aloha jc57,

Thanks for your kind words yet again. I'm not 100% certain, but I'll confirm with Boker about the Hyper. It would be sad to see that one go. I may be biased, but for the reasons you mentioned. I DO have blade variants of the Hyper...maybe I'll resend to Boker again.

Actually sir, I'm a knife user first, designer second...so I don't really spend that much time on how one holds and uses a knife. Being a knife user probably helps though.

Mahalo much! Really, I mean that.

Here's a SubClaw I USED to carry, but the thought of losing it freaked me out, so I went back to my stock version. Scales done by my knifebro Potterma. I wish Boker would do scales like this on a "new" SubClaw release...or even a WharCom for that matter.

Hey adnj,

Thought ya might like this pic...it's the SubCom FB I use. Notice anything strange aside from the cord wrap?

Aloha ALL,

Did this awhile back, when the SubCom Titan first came out for the sake of example. Minus the plastic stud, replace it with the one on the Titan...I'd like them.

Thanks everyone!

I could dig a WharCom Titan with a metal stud, or something a bit more visually appealing than the black stud. It works, sure, but detracts from the classiness of the rest of it. Slick looking little knife.

Aloha sir,

Roger that...if a WharCom Titan is ever made, it won't have a plastic stud. I'd even re-design a stud, but since Boker already has one for the SubCom Titan, they'd probably use it.

There are a lot of people I run into to this day asking why I 86'd the Whar and Claw...ME?!? LOL

Be safe sir!

Wait, what? The Hyper too? I have happily had one of those on my tool belt for years. The handle really works for me, both in the fit and in the way the wide, flat handle provides nice blade control and feedback in work gloves. I was just griping on the Becker forum about blades that interest me getting discontinued before I can even get to try them, like the BK 6 or the Spyderco Dodo, and even the SubCom FB1. Now that I just leveled my knife budget on the Disco'ed BK 5 and 15, I need to add a Hyper to the list to backup my work knife. Seriously, they need to slow down on this whole discontinue business. But I would forgive Boker a lot if I could get a Titan WharCom, as long as it doesn't come and go like a comet. I don't know what it is, but I can't seem to keep SubComs for very long. Either someone thinks they are so awesome I give them away, they get stolen, or they extend a little pair of legs and make a run for it when I am not looking. It would be nice to have a guaranteed supply years down the road.
