I know I'm such a 940 fan boy. It's just the most close to perfect EDC knife I've ever had. And I've tried
Hinderers
Chris reeves
Striders
Spyderco's
Emerson's
Gerber
Bucks
Victorinox
ZT
Case
Kershaws
I love all these brands but the 940 is a home run for ME personally.

- 531
- 940
- 556

Those are the only three that I own, and in the order which I prefer them. All the rest look the same to me, and much better value can be found elsewhere. Yeah, I said it. :)

552-400 (now with Putnam scales, my current EDC)
558-400
552-1401
531
530SBK (my trail running, ultralight carry) 440c old school version
555 (now the 555HG but mine is flat w/ 440c) MY FIRST BM 2001?
14715 (new)
14716 (newer)
485 (newest, may be a bit too small except for light/dress carry)

**These I want but do not own yet.
916 (saw the BM test video now I want one for my car)
808 (maybe too big but still looks great)

Funny thing is I am not a fan of several popular classics like the 940,943 and 710 because they all feel and look too long and skinny for my taste.

I can understand this, as the 940 feels 'different' at first. It's the length of the PM2, but seems like half the width. I think that's what I've grown to appreciate about it. Though I don't carry mine much lately, I think that it will be with me more often in the warmer months. That aluminum is chilly in the winter, and my hands are always cold to begin with.

I wanted to add that I saw a 470-1 that I really liked - it was the first time I saw one in person. Looks like my type of knife, however, I don't like the fact that it is assisted. The Axis lock doesn't really make sense in that scenario. IMO, of course.

I liked their looks when they came out but the assist has always been a deal killer for me and the Emissary family.

PREACH! I too have tried many of the knives you listed and the 940 is still my favorite. A 940-1 is on my wishlist.

1. 940
2. 710-1401
3. M4 Griptilian
4. Ritter Grip
5. 940-1 - haven't handled one yet but I think I would love it as much as the 940

Outside of those 3, I mainly prefer Spydercos overall. They give you a lot more knife for the money IMO but my overall favorite EDC to date is the 940.

I'm sorry but in the current lineup these are the ones that I have that are my favorites-
581 Barrage
890 Torrent

I have some interest in the Adamas and the 810 Contego, but not enough at this time to actually buy one.
