The knives which are most likely to be used defensively are actually sold for culinary use... kitchen knives.

Calling a knife a "defensive blade" based on its appearance is like branding a gun an "assault weapon" and concluding that its only use is to shoot up schools based on cosmetic factors.

A knife is "tactical" or "defensive" based not on how it looks but on how it is used.

A defensive knife, in my book, is whatever knife you happen to have when you need to defend yourself. So really none of my knives are defensive, and hopefully it'll stay that way :D

A gentle reminder for those who are going to participate in this thread. Please keep the conversation focused on the knives to keep this thread from being moved to Prac Tac. Nice looking knives being posted so far.

Thanks!

Jason

Four beauties NeverMore. What is the name of the second knife from the top, and who makes it. That one is calling my name. Thanks for any info on her.

Like Moniker said, it's a ZT 0400. It's had the black coatings stripped off the handle, blade, and hardware, the handle is bead blasted, while the blade and hardware were acid dipped and then stonewashed. A member here, So-Lo, did the work, and topped it off with a very nice edge to boot. Outstanding work for a very reasonable price, and a pleasure to deal with.

I keep a P7M13 and a Strider GB in my nightstand; not a butcher knife. Your use of a statistical fallacy ("most likely to be used... culinary use") is based upon the fact that the vast majority of the population only owns kitchen knives and are not users/collectors of knives. This is a knife forum. A ZT 0300 makes for a lousy kitchen knife, IMO.

I read somewhere that doctors in England are trying to outlaw kitchen knives because of stabbings. I dont know if that adds to the conversation but I feel chatty today.

Anywho...
