-no price limit;
-3.5" blade or longer;
-some sort of guard or forward slip prevention contour on the handle;
-meticulous attention to fit & finish;
-built to be used (no delicately scrimshawed, damascus, & inlaid display case types), preferably for combat or survival.

these are the ones i'm stuck on [in no order], and i need some more ideas:

-duncan aftershock
-terzuola atcf
-crawford perfigo
-pirela vorax
-rj martin avenger

what are yours?? i'd like to investigate further what i'm missing out on..

thanks

Carson Model 4!!!!

Strider SMF would be ideal for me, though the fit and finish may not be as pretty as other knives.

RJ Avenger, for sure.

Crawford/Kasper KFF. One HECK of a solid handle!!!

Emerson custom CQC-8 with bolster and green scales. I love the blade shape for utility and it look slike it would be great for more "rough and tumble" chores.

Hinderer -Firetac
Mayo- Large TNT
Harsey- field utility
Terzuola- TTF3a
Boguszewski-Classic Cobra

As a bonus choice Cutters knife and Tool and/or Bobby Branton collaborations with Walter Brend.

I´m a traditionalist, I´ll go with a Buck 110, preferibly an old one in 440C, or maybe one of the factory customs in BG42.

Can't go wrong with a large Sebenza. They are deffinetly built to be used and have the most meticulous fit/finish and attention to detail I have seen.

Others to possibly consider could be:

SureFire Alpha folder

Crawford Kasper

Duncan Mini Monster

My Tighe

Until recently, the Strider SMF Marsoc

Now-------that or the Extrema Ratio MPC

Both are made for hard, and I really mean HARD use. They are not delicate and they are not linerlocks.

Maybe I'm being too picky, but most of the knives that have been listed don't have a guard or anything else that I would trust to keep my hand off the edge during a hard thrust.

Strangely, all of my favorites of this type are production knives, although four out of five are based on custom designs. Of course, four out of five were also designed by Darrel Ralph and manufactured by Camillus. There just aren't that many large folders with serious guards.

  1. Camillus Maxx Bowie
  2. Camillus Maxx Stiletto
  3. Camillus Aftermath
  4. REKAT Sifu
  5. Camillus Dominator
    [/list=1]

    I think the Kershaw Boa, designed by Ken Onion, deserves an honorable mention. Except for its 3-1/4" blade it would fit in perfectly.

I have a good one for you in the production category...
The Camillus Dominator. It fits all your criteria (depends upon your definition of "meticulous" though) I'm not much of a folder guy, but this knife has really gotten my attention and is one of two that I carry on a regular basis. (the other being the CUDA Maxx 5.5) This knife does it all, and the S30V really takes a nice edge. I really like this one, so much so that I really have no desire and certainly not need, to buy another folder.

That's tough, like a choice over lovely ladies.

For a strong EDC, I have Strider products (either my AR or the SnG)

For the EDC rotation, I use an SOG Tomcat.

For hunting, I have a titanium coated Buck 110.

For household jobs I have a SuperKnife.

For good dress clothes I have a black-bladed, titanium and micarta Microtech LCC.

bquinlan :

The MPC has an upper and lower guard integral to the handle.

You won't be slipping down onto the blade anytime soon with this one.

It is possible that we define guard differently, but; A quick run down the list and I see more knives with design features that keep hands and fingers off the blade, than those without.

I think you will be very pleased with the Nemesis. Let us know if you get it what your thoughts are on that knife.
