So far this has been very helpful. Not only is this helping me build a solid wish list, but it is giving me new names and makers to research.
The makes that keep repeating demonstrate reliable choices.

I am trying to sell my Hoyt bow, and when I do, I will hopefully have about 300 to put towards expanding my knife collection.

Thanks for your suggestions.

What does "HI" stand for in reference to your choice for brush clearing knives?

Here are the knives I'd put on the list- some were left out as I don't have an opinion or cannot make a recommendation:

-EDC folder: Benchmade 943 (S30v Leek or Random Leek- close 2nd)
-Folder with some Class/Gentleman's folder: Benchmade 690
-EDC Fixed blade: GL Drew's "$64 knife" (check Knifemaker's For Sale Area)
-Utility Fixed Blade for the outdoors: Swamp Rat HRLM (honorable mention to CS Master Hunter in Carbon V)
-Utility Folder for the outdoors: Tie: BM Ritter Grip and Benchmade 710 (M2HS in either if you can grab one)
-Self-defense knife: Kimber Classic Custom .45 (seriously)
-Best overall bang for the buck production: Spyderco Native (Delica and Endura a close 2nd)
-Best overall bang for the buck custom: I've seen some great stuff on the Knifemaker's For Sale board

"HI" stands for Himalayan Imports. They've got a forum over the in Manufacturer's section. Their tools are an exceptional value.
"AK" stands for Ang Khola, one of the biggest and baddest knives you will ever find.

A few of my Favorites , or ones that I really want:
(not necessarily the "Best")

EDC folder : (Depends on what you do every day) Kershaw Leek (s30v, polished G10) has been great for me.

-Folder with some Class/Gentlemen's folder -For class!! A Steve Lindsay engraved folder ( http://www.lindsayengraving.com/Steve Lindsay.htm) No, I don't have one, but man, are they beautiful.

-EDC Fixed blade - Gene Ingram SLK II Warncliff (http://geneingramknives.blademakers.com/)

-Utility Fixed Blade for the outdoors - BarkRiver Bravo-1

-Utility Folder for the outdoors- I like Kershaws Needs Work, as utility knife. A Spyderco Military would be good, if you didn't need the warncliff shape.
-Self-defense knife - Rick Hinderer XM-18 (I'd LOVE, one of these!!), Waved Emerson Combat Karambit, (if you know how to use it), Personally I'd rather not to have to use a knife for self defense.
-Brush clearing Knife/Machete - no opinion
-Tree clearing knife/tomahawk - no opinion
-Neck knife - I don't use neck knives, but for a small knife that I think has lots of potential: Bona Knives; Lizard or Drzazga
( http://www.bonaknives.com/eng/noze.htm)
-Best overall bang for the buck production - Byrd Knives (eg: Cara Cara), Opinel, or Bark River
-Best overall bang for the buck custom- Gene Ingram, or Bona Knives

-EDC Flashlight: Luma Power D-Mini ( an amazing light when used with orange peel reflector and dual clicky switch), or LM-303
or Fenix (eg: P2D, LOD CE,etc) or NovaTac EDC (very nice, but expensive), or old Jetbeam IIx, Draco (looks like a great edc, but terribly expensive)
