In this photo from KAI it sure looks like the 0801 (second from the top) does indeed have the hardened SS lock bar insert as do the 0801CF and 0454. Don't see it in either 0566, 0560BW or 0300BW.

And I've never had an issue with either my 560 or 301 lock bar sticking. Not sure why. My 550 will try to if I press it.
 
Definitely going to be getting the 0801CF. Not a huge fan of the CF scales, but I love everything else out the knife really, and the scales should be able to be changed pretty easy. The price seems pretty dang attractive as well.

The Blackwash knives are also pretty high on my list. Love that finish.

Am I the only one who thinks the 801cf is about as ugly as a knife gets? It reminds me of the early model Infinit QX sport utility vehicles with just way too much going on, curves hitting lines, different color window trims depending on where you look....(the new QX is better, even nice) Those carbon fiber scale accents make it look like they couldn't afford to use more carbon fiber. The bronze finish at least on the camera shots I've seen, looks like a gross brown or a reflective black.

Here's the funny part....need to cancel my pre-order on it. I also love carbon fiber and the black "stone wash". Guess I'll have to change over to one of those...definitely the 0770CF is in my future.

Reading through this thread, it's actually very surprising how many people love it. There are 2 things I love: blade geometry and M390. But styling? No for me.

Edit: also, that little peek-a-boo window just reeks of cheesiness for me. Just an opinion here, but it's way too gimicky for my taste.

So your first knife related post here is to bash a knife. All I need to know about you, and please go somewhere else.

AEDC, while we appreciate your participation, you might read Sticky's as you go along. Many sub-forums have house rules that need to be followed. As it is with this house, your post has language that will be looked at as having trollish content. Please look over the rules prior to posting here again.

The only knife I wont be gettin is the 0300 , just because I dont care much for the blade shape.
You cant please all the people all the time , this is only natural.
The others ...........I,ll probably end up buying multiples of .......LOL
I think .....IMHO.....ZT has hit alot of homeruns lately ...............my wallet cant take it..............LOL
However , my credit card can ..........LOL
 
Oops. My profuse apologies to everyone. As noted above I'm new to forums in general and here specidically. I'm actually just learning even what a sticky is that's how new I am to all this. My comments were only related to the aesthetics of this one model, in no way a disparaging of an entire line, or make. And in no way meant to be personal either, it was only an opinion. I have an extensive knife and gun collection: William Henry, Spydercos, Benchmades, Kershaws, bought another Spyderco today in fact, etc. No offense meant at all. In fact I have the 0801cf on PRE-ORDER, still. I would happily prove it to avoid the stigma of "trolling" (which I had to just look up). After looking at it more closely had an about face. It was nearly 3:00am for me so please forgive my forum faux pa and give me another chance! Sorry specifically to nwmetalbug and Kai corp.! Thanks for educating me somewhat gently.
 
I love the overall shape and handle of the 0454, but that funky combo blade does nothing for me. I hope there will be a version in the future with a more simple blade.
