Your two favorite brands

I like Benchmade and Chris Reeve, but have not gotten anything new from them in a couple years. ZT has the most folders on my wish list right now, so I'd call them a runner up.

on the Traditional side, it was GEC, until their pricing became unsustainable for me, so now I'm moving my sights over to Case's product offerings.

Spyderco and GEC are-- by far-- my two favorite contemporary folder manufacturers.

I do like some others. I quite like some Victorinox and Cold Steel too.

For kitchen knives, Victorinox and Spyderco stand out, as well as GEC.

For fixed blades outside of the kitchen Morakniv and it's predecessors stand out in my use history.

Production: Spyderco and the Case Tony Bose collection.

Custom: Walter Brend for fixed and RJ Martin for folders.

I am liking Chris Reeve right now. While not introducing twenty new knives at each SHOT show, they nevertheless do seem to be constantly looking to make most models they make more effective tools each year by exploring the use of superior knife steels. I have found their customer service to be responsive and attentive.

I recognize that Spiderco is a top-tier production company with effective, high quality knives, but the ubiquitous gaping eye hole is off-putting to me esthetically.

There seems to be many other makers at this same level of quality in design and production, but: I am not now active enough in buying knives to have a solid second choice.

Very hard to pick just two , for me .

I previously posted Cold Steel and David Mary Customs , but to be fair Spyderco rides my pocket pretty near as much .

Since I got it , this one has been a frequent flyer :

Very handy ,light weight , easy carry , great slicer .
