What was the VERY first knife you ever owned? Who gave it to you? Do you still have it?

My first knife was a small souvenir-type that I begged my dad for incessantly when we were visiting Hannibal, MO when I was six years old. My mom thought knives were too dangerous, but my dad convinced her that I'd be okay.

Within 15 minutes I was on the way to the hospital for stitches to my hand...

And it's sitting on my mantle at this very moment!

My very first knife was a Swiss Army knife my mom bought me. Never cut my self with it but came close.

A Cub Scout Knife

Glad to be able to say I still have it after 40 years. Best memories were setting with my grandfather watching him sharpen it for me.

A red Swiss Army Knife, not sure what model but it was about 45 years ago. Not sure how I came by it, I am assuming my father bought it for me at the time. I remember that it was sharp, and I have a scar on my left hand to prove it. I have no idea what happened to it, lost over the years.

My first was a cheapo (brand unknown) 5 inch fixed blade with plastic handles. My Grand paw bought it for me for $1. I was 8 yrs. old and yes I still have it.

A Gerber that I can't remember the name of.......it was that bad, well not at the time, but looking back at what I can remember about the knife, not really something I would want to own again.
I gave it away.
Sadly, I can't say I have great "first knife" memories....

I'm so old I don't remember my first knife. This one is close however. It was/is my original Boy Scout knife from the early 1950s by Imperial. I found it while tearing out a wall at my mother house some 30 years ago. A bit of rust pitting on the blade but otherwise perfiect.

Mine was one of these I believe. I was 4 when it was given to me and 5 when I was actually allowed to use it. Unfortunately it was stolen from my front porch when I was 10 or 11.

My paternal grandfather gave it to me. If I remember correctly he actually re-gifted it to me. He was a master carpenter and probably either received it as a gift or partial payment from a client. Wasn't terribly uncommon for such things to occur.

A small fixed blade with a compass in the handle given to me on my fourth birthday. I still have it 65 years later.

Eeesh. Was a Wenger "something" that was given to me by my father when I was 8. I remember how devistated I was when I broke the toothpick for doing non-toothpick things ...

Bought my first one with my own money in the early 80s. Lost it when I went to college but it was my constant companion for about 5 years when me and my friends taught ourselves to camp and fish.
It surfaced after more than 20 years when I moved my parents. Cleaned it up and it's back in circulation.

My first knife was a Cub Scout Knife given to me by my dad around 1987. I received my first Sword, an unsharpened Katana a couple years later in 4th grade, when I started taking Martial Arts. still have both. My dad was the coolest dad ever, still is.

My first knife was, like DDDWho and roosters crow, a boy scout multi-blade. I got it for my first camping trip in 1961. Yeah that far back. No jokes please.

My first knife was one I bought myself once I proved to my parents I was mature enough to own a knife, so around 12-13 years old. I bought myself a Leatherman Wave, had it up to a year ago but sold it as I wasn't getting any use out of it and ended up replacing it with a SOG instead.

My first knife was one similar to this.

Got it in 1974 or 1975. Lost it years ago.

My first pocket knife was a swiss army similar to a tinker. Dont remember exactly how old I was but I thought it was the coolest thing in the world. I would hold it very proudly in my hands as I watched episodes of MacGyver with my grandpa.

Some cheap lock blade that looked like a <3" clone of the Buck 110. I think I bought it for $3 at the state fair when I was 6 or 7 years old.

It was a piece of junk. Lost track of it decades ago. Don't care. I might have thrown it away since I sharpened the blade a lot and I think the point was exposed when folded.
