YOWZA!!!! . . . . "Operation 2 Weeks" . . . Battle Grade Active Duty!!!!!

Maybe. Or maybe Jerry is just being Jerry and making whatever he darn well pleases out of whatever he darn well pleases whenever he darn well pleases. That is his prerogative, after all. And of course, nobody says you have to buy it. ;)

We get it, you are on the bandwagon. Leave us to our opinions, you don't have to comment on everyone

Thanks. :) I'm just glad the boss isn't quite as snooty as some of his customers seem to be.

Thanks. :) I'm just real glad the boss isn't quite as snooty as some of his customers seem to be.

It's more of being a purist. If I want SR I'll buy a swamp rat. Busse is INFI, or was. Brown nosing doesn't get you free stuff, just shit in your nostrils.

I would like to see some big BG choppers. I know INFI is better in the big choppers but using lots of it in a blade sure makes them spendy.

Didn't jerry use other steels before "finding" infi? They still use elmax pretty often too, don't they? You know, he is running a business. I have heard numerous people tell me they could not justify the price but would love to have "X" design. Why shouldn't they build them in more "affordable" steels?

You don't have to buy them, and I am sure there will be plenty of infi offerings along shortly for you to peruse. Don't piss and moan because someone else gets to play too.

I like infi, AND sr-101, AND sr-77, AND elmax, AND any other steels the shop chooses to use, I am shopping BRAND, not turning my nose up at some of it.

Well said, littlehoot. Well said indeed. :) And to answer your question, yes. Jerry definitely did use other steels before settling in on INFI, one of which he has stuck with for over a decade due to its extreme toughness, strength, edge-taking and edge-holding ability . . . SR101. If you get what you pay for in INFI, you're getting a screaming bargain in SR101.

I have not been around here long, but I have been a fan of Busse since not long after 9/11. Went to my first knob creek and got to peruse some of their stuff. Wish I had been able to fund purchases then, regardless of steel type.

I can now, and good lord, it aggravates me to watch folks turn up their nose at something now that I would have loved to been able to get/afford then.

I buy Busse because they are the best. I rock infi because it's the best. Second best will always be just that, second. Thanks for trying to save money, but the time spent maintaining the blade because of its lack of corrosion resistance ultimately over time will cost you money through scrubbing (time), products (money), oils (both) all in maintaining something you cheaped on. Save another week and get something worth gloating over. "See my knife will do anything" and actually believe it and mean it. INFI All THE WAY

Buy yourself some Eezox and apply to some Sr-101 and then tell me it is still a problem. There is no best knife or steel for that matter without clearly defining 'best for xxxx application'. Kinda like saying nothing beats a formula one race car..... Without saying 'on a paved road course'. Obviously a dirt track would be somewhat of a different story....

I understand the thought behind the small choil for sharpening, and the thought behind a larger choil to choke up, but don't understand the elf choil.

Could anyone chime in who knows the intended application?

I guess when I said elf I meant small, doh. I too need to learns. I def would prefer it smaller then the one in the pics but Ill be good either way. I love r101 in my smaller blades and I love the ad. That and I already have an original with SS (Luv ya Russ :D)

Ah. Reminds me of a statement Jeff Randall made about blade corrosion. It went something like this . . . "95% of the world cuts with rusty knives". If I were to find myself in a situation where I couldn't keep my SR101 knives in pristine condition, keeping them in pristine condition would probably be the last thing on my mind.

The funny thing is, Jerry's customers seem more willing to drink the INFI kool-aid than Jerry is. Don't get me wrong . . . INFI is an amazing blade steel and I'm as much of a fan of it as anyone here. But unobtanium it is not. And other alloys can and do play in INFI's backyard . . . not the least of which is SR101.

The bottom line is, Jerry's heat treat is arguably as good as it gets. And any alloy he affixes his logo to is worthy of having it there or it wouldn't be there. Some may call that brown-nosing. I call it experience. And I, for one, am willing to stake my life on it. The only other products in my arsenal I can make that statement about shoot bullets. YMMV.

I'm not being "snooty".

I'm not trying to be a "purist".

I'm not "turning my nose up" at anything or anyone here, nor do I in my daily life.

All I did was state what I like. I've done that a few times before on this subforum and the SYKCO site. I just don't do it the same way as some. ;)

I hope you all enjoy whatever you buy from Busse, and I hope this hasn't caused anyone to spill their kool-aid. :D

BTW, I like ELMAX. :)
