YTers Pushing Counterfeit Knives

As this is your thread, I'd kind of like to know how YOU feel about it too. ;)

I think the notion that "I was never going to buy a real one so I'm not hurting anyone" is ridiculous. These people are patronizing companies that are stealing others work and passing it off as authentic. I also think that large named "gear reviewers" and "knife reviewers" who have such a platform should feel ashamed that they are actually promoting such companies.

Any thoughts?

Reported him for spam/misleading.

Nutnpansy tried this one time with a Hinderer clone and at least he had the sense to pull it down. Let's see what this joker does.

So glad I've never heard of him until today and hopefully I will never hear of him again.

Shameful

I didn't watch the video but I remember the NF hinderer clone video. If you are buying and endorsing knives that you know are counterfeit, You're supporting theft.

I watched only a small portion of the video but like you I read the comments.

I totally agree that a gear/knife reviewer has a responsibility here. And if I remember correctly this guy (I also hadn't heard of him before) has almost 30K in followers. Granted not everyone watches every video and this one had a couple hundred but, it's safe to say several thousand people view his stuff.

I enjoy your username sir.

We've a llama farm nearby and although I never raised them or alpacas, they're pretty neat. Used to impress people with emus though... the cool cousin of the ostrich. :P

This guy is up there with the best of them. Has glowing reviews of clones/counterfeits... Trashes the American companies (who developed these knives) because of their prices on video... Then argues with people on the comments section about how wrong knife companies are for "ripping us off" and urges watchers to go with the fake. He's also a forum member by the same name but isn't active here anymore.

To be fair, that guy had 592 subscribers... The guy in the OP has 30k+

His shirt matches his review perfectly.

Just watched some of the guy's vids months ago and find it in the same league as Nutn's and OP's. Actually more so because of what he says and writes. Regardless, doesn't make it any better, they both are all doing the same thing... I suppose I should have said he ranks with the best of them TO ME. Because that's what I know, I have no clue about what their subscribers think.

Actually, upon further review...OP youtuber has like two clone videos, one dropped today with only 270 views and the other older one, a Byrd clone with 2,000 views only....

The guy I linked to has six or seven clone videos ranging from 400 to 8,000 views (PM2 clone).

So in fairness, if you want to go the impact route....Ah never mind.

I watched the video and I think he actually made some good points about quality issues with the fakes and about the people who buy them know what they're getting when they pay a fraction of the price. I'm glad he admitted to feeling a little immoral as well and probably wouldn't carry it much, but to each his own. I think it was an honest review for what it was and he not once trashed anyone for their pricing, but instead wanted a real one after handling the fake.

There has to be something illegal about stamping a Chinese made knife with USA on it

It's not illegal in China though... Very illegal here to produce fakes of course. The difficult part is enforcing the laws to stop them from bringing it in... AND the fact that there is demand for it. People buy them, they'll make it.

I feel like you gotta have some low standards to say that crap is just as good as the real deal. Thats like driving a pontiac fiero with a ferrari body kit and saying its better than an actual ferrari.

As a Fiero fan, I could make that argument based on the relativism of 'better' for kicks and giggles; but I won't.
