YTers Pushing Counterfeit Knives

People who knowingly buy and endorse counterfeits?

Unpopular opinion, I know...but I don't mind it. I'm not gonna go throw money at a bunch of counterfeits after watching this video, and I don't expect a random youtuber to spend tons amounts of money so they can pump out new content frequently.

Lots of arguments could be made for either side here, I just PERSONALLY don't believe it's a big deal.

Honestly I don't think they are taking away from the companies. The people buying the reps didn't have the mindset to spend a large amount of money on the real knife to begin with. I started my knife collecting from nicely made reps from Kevin John and A DAI. After getting a rep Brous Blades Reloader, I was so happy how it felt and looked I went ahead and bought the real thing. Now I have both the G10 and the CF Reloader and th T4, and my collection keeps growing. As long as they aren't on eBay trying to sell them off as real knives I don't see it doing much harm. As a knife collector I'm sure people here are more about the great designs and mechanics than the actual name brands. I for one am actually pleasantly surprised on how well the Chinese build them. If knife makers used and outsourced to those factories we would get some great pieces for a very affordable price. Then on the other hand you will have knife snobs much like people who own rolex complaining about how they aren't so exclusive anymore.

Reported him for spam/misleading.

Nutnpansy tried this one time with a Hinderer clone and at least he had the sense to pull it down. Let's see what this joker does.

So glad I've never heard of him until today and hopefully I will never hear of him again.

Shameful

I didn't watch the video but I remember the NF hinderer clone video. If you are buying and endorsing knives that you know are counterfeit, You're supporting theft.

A shame he took it down...at least I downloaded it first! ;)

As a Fiero fan, I could make that argument based on the relativism of 'better' for kicks and giggles; but I won't.

Lol no Fiero dis intended. I like them too.

Is that nutnfancy video still around anywhere? He is one of my go to people for reviews and the last person id expect to endorse a knock off.

I feel like you gotta have some low standards to say that crap is just as good as the real deal.

It's comforting to believe that a counterfeiter can't make a good product. Unfortunately, that simply isn't true. If it were true, the counterfeiters would have gone out of business long ago.

Clone quality varies between junk and excellent. Based on my experience, if you haven't personally handled clones, you'd be on much safer ground disparaging the ethics of the counterfeiters than the quality of their products.

At the end of the day, bottom dollar matters most. Yes, eventually, those that buy fakes end up wanting the real thing. But the companies that make the fakes don't care that customers toss 'em. They run laughing all the way to the bank.
It hurts buyers as much or more so than the authentic manufacturers.

Bojos - you can't delete a post, only edit it to remove the duplicate information.

Apparently, they named a factory in China usa (sounds like oosaw) and now they can honestly say that it's from USA....tricky Chinese

This crap doesn't matter. Does it cause damages to Strider? Probably not at all, even if the high end clones are rather nice. I'll be more worried when Chinese original designs make us all stop wanting Striders et al in favor of the new {random Chinese knifemaker's name here}

This guy is up there with the best of them. Has glowing reviews of clones/counterfeits... Trashes the American companies (who developed these knives) because of their prices on video... Then argues with people on the comments section about how wrong knife companies are for "ripping us off" and urges watchers to go with the fake. He's also a forum member by the same name but isn't active here anymore.

Agreed 100%. I un subbed from this dip-shit because of this and his pissing and moaning about pricing. He complains about Spyderco charging $120 for a paramilitary 2 but he'll spend the same amount of money for three shitty knives!

How do you guys feel about this?

I think he's right in all respects except for the people getting hurt by paying full price of a real knife and unwittingly getting stuck with a counterfeit one. That in itself is why people should completely and totally boycott these. If they put something on there to make it known that it was a fake, I wouldn't really have much of a problem.

If people want to buy counterfeits, that's their freedom of choice, just as anyone who judge their actions. I don't personally buy counterfeits but I won't judge those who do either. We should all have a little tolerance for our fellow man.

Knife companies, TV shows, technology firms, defense industry or any other business/invention/idea get copied and reproduced and stolen ALL THE TIME. That's just the way the world works and this will not change until the end of time. Anyone who think they can stop it or change this is delusional.

There's a good hour long history video ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXbLyVpWsVM ) on the famous "Ufbert" sword during the Viking era. Give that one a watch and you'll discover that the a large percentage of countless "Ufbert' swords that was discovered in graves were "counterfeits" produced from the same era because the sword was known for its quality and commanded a high premium.

His review wasn't glowing in fact he said it required substantial work to make it work and he wouldn't recommend it. He also points out to his audience how to spot a fake which is important for less informed knife enthusiasts.
