Zaan Color Change

Well my friend, you're in tune with my train of thought. We've exchanged posts in the past, regarding the similarities in the blade profiles of the Zaan and Spartan Horkos. Nothing would please me more than to see a Zaan style blade profile fixed blade from CRK. To fill the void, I do in fact have a black spartacoat Horkos on my radar.:)

I had never really payed much attention to Spartan until you showed me that Horkos, though I haven't pulled the trigger on one yet I do look at them often. It's a very interesting knife and if it's done as well as their folder is( saw one at a show ) I'd really like to have one some day.

Now you've made me start to wonder how good my old trusty Tanto Zaan would look in a little black dress, hmmm.

Have a great holiday my friend.

Not sure how I missed this thread. :foot: That black handle looks real good. I wonder how it will wear over time though. You can always have it balsted and recoated of course.

As for Spartan, I'm a fan. I have a few of thier knives and would happily own more. They are a bit expensive but you do get a quality product for that cash. I'm looking to pick up the Difensa next I think, Bill Harsey did a great job with CRK and has carried that on with Spartan for sure. :)

I've been back several times to view this amazing piece. I realized that I had not commented...It looks incredible. I'd say it even looks " fast standing still" if that makes sense.

The Difensa looks impressive, can't wait to see one in the flesh. It's CRK's fault that I even pursued Spartan Blades. If they would've never made the Zaan, I probably would've never been drawn to that amazing blade profile.

^ my thoughts as well
Yes, the detent ball & lockup were in fact cerakoted. I was a bit concerned as to how that would affect the operation. However, it ended up as being of no concern. I did have to use quite a bit of pressure to get the scale to seat in place, but after a pronounced clicking sound, the scales merged over the pivot and the blade operates just as smoothly as it did before.
