ZDP 189 Endura Initial Impressions

Excellent work! No diamond stones I presume? Will that zdp dragonfly go at least 4 times longer as the delica between sharpenings?
The dragonfly has not been really sharpened since it was purchased, just touched up on a glass slab with metal polish, then on leather. In my experience, it gets "dull" only because particles of plastic, adhesive, or meat connecting tissue foul up the edge, whereupon it can no longer split hair. But a touch up brings it right back.

The delica has had one full re-profiling done.

My question is: is it worth to pay 50% more on the "upgraded" steel?

(nowadays - VG10 version price is around $80-85 and ZDP version price is around $120-130)

I would say that ZDP very well may cut 50% longer than VG10 would. Is that worth it to you? There’s quite a few members that consider ZDP 189 to be the best steel we have on the market right now. It’s a very unique and intriguing steel. So if you’re into that type of thing, it probably is worth the increase. If you’re not, then I suppose it’s not. It’ll be different for everyone.

From my experience, it's worth it. My W&H knife is used regularly, but not abused, and really doesn't need sharpening, but I still strop it a few times.

I've thought about getting it in a Delica, but went Police. The VG 10 version is so good and the knife so indestrtible, I'd go VG10 if the cost difference is important to you, since its still a great knife. I have a family member who has one and doesn't sharpen, and it holds an edge for a long time.
