I have an older Endura in ZDP-189. It has a flat saber type blade (2 angle changes from edge to spine). I recently purchased another Endura in ZDP-189. It has a full flat blade (1 angle change from edge to spine). Is anyone familiar with this change? Why did they make it? Which one would you rather have? Thanks.

The full flat grind (FFG) flavor is a better slicer, as that smooth grind will move right through the material if that makes sense. A really sharp FFG knife will go through a cardboard box like butter. Its sick. Lots of folks, including me, prefer the FFG. You can still get the saber grind on the regular Endura 4, but in a different blade steel. Seems that folks tend to gravitate toward the FFG versions, though some still like the saber grind as it may be a little more robust, especially in terms of lateral strength if prying, digging, etc.

Thanks, guys. I like the looks of the saber grind, but I can see the all-around utility of the flat grind. I think I'll keep them both. I've been using the saber grind for my EDC, so I've gotten attached to it.
