I think the tip problem is more an issue of the brittleness of the steel. A box cutter uses very flexible steel. On the other hand, I've used a Benchmade 730HS to cut drywall/sheetrock, among other things, and it held up better than any of the box cutters being used on site. Maybe the profile of the blade is not optimal, as Kershaw has admitted. I'll just be more aware that this is a specialty blade, and treat it as such.
I got my knife back yesterday, BTW. I'm thankful that UPS delivers on Holidays!!! Now I have a sharp Oct 06 vintage blade.
