zdp 189 vs sg2

There is barey an edge on one side of my stretch 2, and a huge edge on the other side.I'm using the 30 digree setting on my sharpmaker the flat grinds are off kilter,is that my problem??.My emersons get razer sharp and the grinds aren't the same.I'm leaning towards heat treat
problems at this point.I've sharpened many different steels on dozens of folders.I also am following my freinds advise using light pressure when using
zdp.I have never run into this problem with a spyderco.I may send it in. I'll give it one more go when my head cools.:mad::mad::confused::o:(

I would double check to make sure you are hitting the edge. If the bevels are uneven you'll need to sharpen each side at a different angle, or reprofile the knife to even bevels on each side. Hold the knife up to a good light source and see where you're grinding when you sharpen, or use a sharpie marker on the edge bevel and check it after doing a few strokes on your stone.

I guess it's more of a level of ease then the blade steel itself. But i'm damn sure sg2 could become sharper then 420j2 for example.

Well, I have whittled hair with a butter knife :D

I did reprofile the edge at 30.I even went back to 40 then 30 for the third time.:jerkit:..I started with diamonds all the way through to ultra fine.I spent total of 2.5 hrs on that bad boy.I don't like to sharpen freehand because I like clean factory looking edges.I'm hooped,oh well I'm going to try my zdp endura and compare results.THat will tell me if I have a zdp handycap or not.

The amount of time that it would take to get a butter knife to whittling
hair sharpness I could put a edge on my stretch 2:D

Sharpness does not depend on steel type. I can sharpen any steel whittling hair with same effort. Most trouble I have not because of one or other steel, but because thick edge with uneven bevels where I need to take off a lot of metal. But final hair whittling sharpness can be done on any steel so far with same effort.

Thanks, Vassili.

steels will seem to sharpen up the same if you have diamond rods. But if you are going to use ceramic rods ,s90v isn't going to sharpen up as easy as vg-10.

Oh ,by the way I finished reprofiling my zdp endura yesterday, I got it shaving
sharp in 15 minutes. So i'm left with heat treat problems,or bad flat grinds for my stretch 2.I'll give it one more shot and see if i'm going to send it in for warranty. When I pay $200 for a folder I expect the grinds to be center.
