does anyone have any experience to share? I have been EDC-ing my Calypso CF ZDP for the past 3 months, and I must say it is the only Spyderco that I've owned that rusts very very easily. There are light rust/corrosion spots (surface, not pitting) on the spine of the blade after I go through a 7-8 hour hike, or if I clip it to my shorts and go biking / walking for a couple of hours. I've used Autosol (similar to Flitz) to clean it no less than 6 times already.

seems like ZDP is a rust-magnet.

anyone else have similar experience, or is it just the humidity in Singapore?

I also read that on someone else's kershaw zdp something, you might want to swing over to their forum to find out.

... light corrosion spots only on the edge after wet use on a canoe tour (I dried and inspected the CalyJr on the following day, my fault maybe).

Sherlockbonez,

Absolutely right sir. I'm still in good hope for a Calypso Jr. H-1  (BTW it was fresh water and not salt-water)

My ZDP-189 picked up a couple of blotches after I mistakenly wore it at the beach rather than subbing in my Pacific Salt, but in the end, I really don't care.

Most of my knives are carbon alloys of one type or another and not stainlesses. Perpetually shiny "users" kinda bug the hell out of me anyways. I prefer the character marks and patina myself.

The ZDP-189 does not rust if you look at it funny, it's just at a level of corrosion resistance where you cannot afford to be lazy about drying it off.

Even my VG-10 Endura is not a carefree specimen. I think the H-1 offerings are the only way to go if you want to completely neglect a knife and have it still look somewhat brand new.

H1 scratches easily, and it never looks brand new. My vg-10 cento also had a few blotches, but it doesn't bother me asboats pointed out, I like the dings on my knife!

It will rust, but not as bad as my ATS-34 or ATS-55 blades did. I went paintballing all day last saturday(95deg/90%hum- or somewhere around there) and my Endura had some light rust spots on it. I wiped them off with some break free. My VG-10 Kris, G-2 Endura, and 154CM CQC-8 were ok.

Dosen't ZDP have a very high chrome content? I'm surprised to hear about rust. No signs on my ZDP Delica
