Hi Guys-
I have a "zebra pattern" mosaic damascus fighter/bowie blade available, and two utility/defense blades.
The original billet (W1, 1084 & 15N20) was forged about 12 or 13 years ago when I was trying to teach myself how to do a feather pattern. There were NOT a dozen tutorials on creating a feather billet back then, so those initial attempts were all based on a photo I had seen of a Don Fogg dagger.
At a certain point into the forging, I realized it wasn't going to do quite what I wanted it to, so I set it aside.
Fast forward to about 7 or 8 years ago, and it dawned on me that if I did a 45 degree tile cut, flip, and re-forge-weld... the billet would look like zebra stripes. So that's what I did.
The project kept getting put on the back burner, and at this point I would rather sell this to someone that will actually finish it, than see it sit in my shop for another 5 years.
It is forged, heat-treated, finish ground, hand sanded, etched, polished, and ready to start building a handle!!!
(but be careful, it will certainly cut you if you're complacent)
Sold--- thanks my friend!
$300 shipped in the states
OAL- 12-3/16"
Blade- 8-5/16"L x 1-7/16"W x 0.185"T at ricasso
***There's about 1-1.5" of the tang that is mild steel that was forged welded with the tiled billet. The pattern only looks like it ends abruptly in the tang because that's how far it was submerged in the Ferric Chloride etch tank.
I called these utility defense blades, because they would most likely be used for utility tasks... but they have the profile of a small fighter.
Sold---- #1- S30V (Bos heat treat- 59/60 Rc) tapered tang, surface ground flats
$90 shipped in states
#2- O1 (Wheeler heat treat
59/60RC) tapered tang, surface ground flats
Sold--- $65 shipped in states
