Wanted to give you guys a heads up on a review I wrote on the Zebralight H30 and H50 on Woodsmonkey. Zebralights are freakin sweet. I am a HUGE fan of multi use gear and these fit the bill.

If youre in the market for a new light, check this out....

Zebralight H30 and H50

;) youre welcome brotha...:p

Dude really, these are freakin AMAZING lights!!

Thanks for the review. I've been interested in those lights for quite a while. They sure have a great reputation.

I'm also trying to standardized my lights, but to AA instead of 123. My GPS and portable radios use AAs, but more important is that I have two different solar-powered AA chargers that work great. I have a lot of other stuff that uses AAs, so it's the way I want to go.

I sure wish the AA Zebra had the same type switch as the 123 model. I'm using my NiteCore Tactical PD10 as a handheld light and also use it with an old Maglite elastic headband as a headlamp when I want "small." Otherwise, I really like my Black Diamond Icon headlamp (but it's big).

LED technology is still making good advances and the newest AA lights are on par or better than my old SureFire 123 lights for brightness and run time. Things just keep getting better!

Dude never fear! Zebralight awnsered the call and there is now a AA version with the tailcap switch!!!

Dammit... there goes the budget again!

NiteCore PD10 + Zebra H501 = primary flashlight, primary headlamp, plus back-up.

I've got some of these on the way. Should be here in a couple of weeks.

I have a couple of both. I actually prefer the non-button of the AA model. I've had my 123 models get bumped and turn on in my pack/rucksack. Also, last backpacking trip, I actually slept with the AA model around my neck...makes it easier to find the light in the middle of the night!

Good review Jake, and I must say these are by far my favorite headlamps! I keep the 123 models in my military kit bags and the AA models in my backpacking equipment.

That's a valid point. I can unscrew the head of my NiteCore PD10 a half-turn so that if the tail button does get pressed somehow, the light only comes on momentarily. I'm guessing I can do the same with the Zebralight? Or loosen the tailcap, maybe?

I've only had a light come on in my pack and drain the batteries one time. And it was my Black Diamond Icon, which probably has the most difficult to activate switch (rubber-covered button that requires a long throw well below surface level) of any of my lights. The only way I can guess the switch was activated was by my own hand, when I stuffed the light into an external pocket on the German surplus rucksack I use for duck hunting. The light was dead the following weekend when I checked it before another hunt.

Yeah, just a 1/4 turn and the switch wont activate the light....I didnt think of this, now I like mine even more!!!

Thanks for the review. I've been debating getting one of these for a while but was wondering how much of a difference in flood do these give over the Fenix P2D Premium Q5? Also is the difference between the 66 and 80 lumens very noticeable?
Wish I have found this thread sooner, just placed an order with 4Sevens for the NiteCore EZ AA afer being inactive on the forums for a while. I could have ordered one of these at the same time.

Thanks again!
