Hi guys,

I just wanted to point out a few changes I found on my new ZT 0301. Overall, I think the changes they made are great. I have always been a big fan of the 0301. Having last years model in hand and this new one, I think they made a big improvement in my opinion. I haven't found any info on this change online and didn't even know about it until I received the knife. I apologize if this has already been talked about here.

Here is a few pictures,

You will notice the this one does not have the overtravel stop,

They added a hardened steel insert inside the lockbar and is held on with a small screw,

Here is a pic of the steel insert on the inside. The steel insert contacts the blade when opened. Its supposed to be less prone to wear. The insert is wide enough that it overlaps onto the handle (on the inside) and creates an overtravel stop.

Overall, I really like the change. The lockup just feels and sounds more solid to me. I think they did a great job on this.
Again, I apologize for my poor writing and photography skills. This is the first review I have ever done. I hope its a little help to someone. Thanks for looking.

Nice to see product innovations being spread across the entire line. But the curmudgeon in me says it's not a 03xx anymore, maybe a 03xx-1? I do wish my 0300BW had the upgrade though, lastest and greatest and all.

When I first pulled it out of the box, I thought they sent me the wrong model. After talking to a guy from ZT and using this new one for a few days, im really glad I got this new model.

These changes don't show up in 2014 ZT catalog I guess they were 2013 models photographed, I was going to pull trigger on 301 I better wait.

The pictures aren't showing up for me. I assume it is my connection, as it sounds like they are working for others.

I can see them. Maybe it's your browser?

It will work, but does not excel at those tasks. Although I never sliced bacon before. It does eat big chunks out of wood with the recurve blade. If you are set on a ZT other models will slice better I am sure.

Is this particular style blade good at slicing tomatoes, other veggies and meat ie: bacon? Thanks

It is great to see the insert but I wish they kept the other LBS, it looked better with it IMO

Thanks for the great photos and write-up. No need to apologize, for sure!

I didn't know they had planned any changes. Interesting. The ONE thing I really wish they would change is the rattling of the assist spring. I love my 0301, but that tiny little rattle really destroys the quality, solid, bomb-proof feel of the knife to me.

Stay sharp,

Big question is how to get new model on internet? most dealers have older stock . Kershawguy would be a good contact I assume.

I like the changes. Wonder if they will do the same on the 560?

my thoughts exactly also if you could see more of the steel insert like on the sr1 that would have been sexy

my dream 30x would be all blackwash with a polished hinder type over travel stop , polished sr1 type locking insert, and a deep carry pocket clip that did not cover the lock bar cut out
so that's my 30x dream whats yours ???

that bugged me too but blade forums had the answer ..........petroleum jelly !!!!!!!

disassemble the 30x place petroleum jelly aka Vaseline (or grease )in the milled out section that the torsion bar is placed reassemble and your done no more rattling

Have there been any other sightings of 0300s with these updates? Seems a little odd that it is such a quiet transition.

I think it's a very cool upgrade. I like the looks of the Hinderer style LBS, but I also think the combination insert/LBS is nice feature. I would guess that this feature would find it's way across all of the Ti framelock models eventually.

Its odd that nobody announced these changes. I emailed Dave at Kershawguy He did confirm they had the new version in stock.
