Every 030x going forward will have this new lock face/stabilizer. I spoke with ZT's customer service and they confirmed this transition. They made the transition after the 2014 catalogs had been printed. Production failed to fill in the customer service department, so they've been receiving an influx of calls about the "issue". Rest assured, if yours has these modifications, it is not a counterfeit/wrong model. And, to be quite honest, aside from asthetics, I think it's a stronger design. The steel insert is fat and creates a much more positive "click" when actuated. They made the adjustment because of complaints that the Hinderer stabilizer had sticking issues, causing the knife to fail/not lock up. Also told to me by ZT customer service.

Big question is how to get new model on internet? most dealers have older stock . Kershawguy would be a good contact I assume.

New here and just registered so I could repay the favour of information.

I have just bought the knife from knifecenter.com and it is the 2014 version. Cheap as well.

For me as well it was a surprise to not find the stop on it and seeing that the documents are quite limited I went searching the internet
Thank all of you for talking about it here for I was worried that my rather costly knife had to be sent back all the way from the Netherlands.

I'm about to purchase a ZT0300...is the general consensus that it's worth confirming that the retailer is selling the 2014 version with the steel lock bar insert, etc.?

Is this particular style blade good at slicing tomatoes, other veggies and meat ie: bacon? Thanks

The blade style is okay, but the thickness might make you want to consider another knife for the task. Kitchen knives if possible, given their thinness and lack of need to clean out organic matter from the pivot.
