I just recently purchased the ZT 0301 and I’ve noticed every so often the frame lock will stick. When this does happen, a considerable amount of force is needed to get the frame lock to disengage. I was wondering if any others have encountered this or a possible fix to the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

on frame locks sometimes the pencil trick will work but other times its just not adjusted right and ya have to send it back for them to fix it, just depends.

IMHO the ZT 301 are marketed towards Military and Law Enforcement people and as the ads says "Serious Missions,Serious Knives,ZT duty ready knives".The 301 is not ment or design to be just a cutting tools for opening mail but like things like ripping into and opening things, dugging, poking, scraping maybe even prying things like drywall, furniture, carpet, light metal, wire, mattresses, etc encountered in situations like a raid.If you are intending to do any or all of the above following things IMHO you would appreciate a extremely tight locking frame lock which is comforting to know that won't fail and always keep on performing regardless. In tough and intense situations the tightness of a knife's the lock the lessens the chance the lock will fail and that a good thing.

I recently purchased a ZT0302 (same knife different color) and mine locks up tight every time but not so tight that extreme force must be used to disengage the frame lock. It's actually one of the features that I like about the knife. I've only had it for a week or so but I have never had it lock up so tight that I would say that it was really difficult to close.

On the other hand, I would not characterize this knife as a "one hand closer." It's a one-hand opener for sure but this knife is a half-pound monster designed for heavy duty use and, so far at least, I use two hands to close it.

Are you using a lot more force to open it on the times it sticks? If so then quit!:D You also might adjust the pivot nut to make it a little tighter ans slow the blade just a tiny bit so it doesn't open with a lot of force.

Post # 2 works pretty good for a sticky lock. One other thing you can look for is a film of oil on the ramped part of the tang, make sure to wipe that off if it has collected there.

all true but having to use a key to move the lockbar aint right either.

it should not be that hard to open and if it is its not adjusted right.

How does the ZT 301/302 slice?
Is it a nice thin grinded flatgrounded blade or did they left it thick?
