I just purchased a zt 0620 off of a member here and afterwards while looking over the pics of the knife more thoroughly I noticed there is no serial number on the blade. I contacted the seller and he said the person he bought it from previously had it rebladed, and that zt won't put a serial number on a knife that's been rebladed so people wouldn't think that it's new. I've never had an encounter like this before, and am a little worried that it could be a fake. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

It's my understanding that ZT replacement blades are sterile (no markings). If you have doubts, your could always send it to KAI for sharpening and let them comment on the authenticity of the blade.

From what I can tell it should have a serial number. Did you ask the seller? Something like a blade swap should be disclosed.

Zt and kershaws are rebladed with sterile blades. I know because I have had it done to one of mine. Don't worry it's not fake. IMO it makes the knife look better as there is no cluttered markings on the blade.

This blade has the zt logo and the model number, just no serial number.. Does that sound right?

KIA serial numbers are sequential and have a definite correlation to units produced. It's always been my understanding that replacement blades may have a logo but no serial. Craytab is right, a blade replacement/swap should be disclosed when selling though.

Ok thanks a lot guys! Ya I agree that this definitely should have been disclosed. Unfortunately, I didn't notice this until I already transferred funds. So really, my negligence is to blame, but I'm very relieved to hear that this knife sounds legit. Thanks again.

I sent in a 550 for a blade replacement and it had all markings except a serial number. So no worries

As others have said, its a replacement blade, that's all.

Unfortunately I don't think that's all. It needs to be disclosed in the sale. Why did it have a replacement blade? Sent in for questionable heat treat? Poor grind? Or was it thrashed to hell so hard that the blade snapped? I sure would like to know if a blade I am buying was basically broken through abuse and sent in for warranty. There could be other problems that were not noticed and might show up later. Bottom line is, this was an undisclosed blade replacement and the reason for the replacement was also undisclosed. Buyer had to come here to figure this out. Good thing ZT has great warranty service. OP might need it again in the future.

^ well said.
The seller should have disclosed that the blade is sterile, i.e. replacement blade from ZT.
Even though he doesn't know the reason for the blade replacement as he is the second owner, he should be upfront about it.
If I were you and I known the blade is a replacemend blade, I would ask for further discount coz if you decide to sell the knife later, the next buyer might as for further discount too, unless he prefers sterile blade for cleaner look

To be fair though, the price was very low, indicative of a warrantied knife.
