Zero Tolerance 550

I've been out of it for a while. Last I heard ZT was going to make them like the 551s with black blades. What's going on with it?

It's the same design as the 0551 but with a different pattern of texturing on the G-10 and a CPM-S35VN blade steel instead of Elmax. They dropped the plans for the 0550 to have a black coated blade a while back and decided instead to do a stonewashed finish as on the 0551. The shift from the originally planned Vanax 35 blade steel to S35VN is due to continuing delays in Vanax 35 becoming available.

That sucks they won't do a black blade as I've become quite fond of them. Anybody have an ETA? ZT sure is slow to get these models out, I would think a company as large as they are would do a better job.

ETA = As soon as the stores announce them. There is nothing concrete that I've seen at this point.

They're not large... at all...

Have you checked the facebook page? They say that Kershaw has the floor right now and that ZT will get time later. ZT stuff is made in batches to keep the quality high. All of the ZTs are hand finished.

simple6 - It's not as easy as that to ahve people working 24/7, the knives aren't made by machines or anything.
