Getting ready to pull the trigger on a ZT 561, just want to make sure that I'm not over looking any other good options in that price range or below, with a drop point or similar style blade.

Only other one that caught my eye was a Boker turbine, but Ive the advantage to the Zero tolerance due to being a frame lock over a liner lock.

Kinda a noob to nicer knives, have a bunch of ESSE's, but thats about as far as my nicer knives go.

So what should I go with ?

Love my ZT 0561 - I don't think you'll be disappointed. The ZT line gets good press because they make great knives at affordable prices.

There are about a million nice knives in the $260 and under price range. A few more qualifications of what you're looking for would help make suggestions meaningful :)

I had typically overlooked ZT Because I don't like the blade shape of most of their folders. I'm liking the Hinderer designs a lot.

How about Spyderco Gayle bradley, yes it is a linerlock but really good one.Carbon fibre scales,M4 steel, tough as nails, unbelivable fit and finish(probably the best I seen on production knives),and cost 120 $ less than zt 560.

Well it seems like you are wanting a flipper if I am correct? If that is what your are looking for you should check out the Microtech Whale shark it is a little bit more than the 560/561 but it is just a knife you should take a look at.

Seems to me that the BM Adamas and the Spyderco Manix 2 XL would be somewhat comparable. Of those I would be most interested in the 561, and I'm trying to get a 560 or 561 for myself.

I love my 560. Carries easy with the clip and opens super easy. I carry her blade up on the outside.
I'm not saying these other knives aren't great,I just like Zero Tolerance.

ZT makes great knives and provides OUTSTANDING customer service. Hinderer collaborative knives are superb.

560 is the ZT I'd be most interested in myself. That being said, and at the risk of becoming predictable, I would also recommend the Gun Hammer as being a great flipper in a comparable price range.

Here are a couple of items to consider...the size of the 0560 ... it is one big SOB ... however that being said it is very light for its size (just look inside at the material they have milled out). Secondly, do you like a "flipper" style knife. As others have mentioned it opens smooth as silk. Don't really want to sway you one way or another but have you looked at its little brother the 0550 ... little smaller seems about the same weight (don't know for sure actual weight) blade is a little shorter. Same "handfull of knife" that lots of us like. I mean when you have these "bad boys" (0550 or 0560) in your hand you know you have hold of something ... nothing wimpy about either one. IMO if ZT would sculpt the 550 handle the same as the 0560...they would have a real winner for those times you want a little less knife to carry.
Hope these helps.
Good luck in your choice.

This is me too. Im not super fond of the giant recurve models zt is known for even though Ive heard a lot of people singing their praises. That said, I have ordered a 0561. I dont have it yet but it looks great in pictures/videos and, even though its a large knife, it looks more useful than some other zt models given my folder needs/uses. I waffled between it and the fantoni hb01 but decided on the 0561 first mostly because of the deep carry pocket clip and because I want to try elmax.

If you want a larger knife get the 0561, otherwise the 0551 is just about perfect.

I like them both for their own reasons though. Either one is a solid choice.

ZT warranty is as good as is gets.

I can't speak for DPX because I wouldn't be caught dead with one. Please don't ask, just search their now defunct subforum.
